Great food and a great view

Had a great lunch at Ma'la with another family on a recent visit to Maui based on a recommendation from a local resident. It is a bit off the beaten path, but right on the water. It was family friendly and the food was very good. The salads were good and the Ahi burger was delicious. Two thumbs... read more

I was not sure if I wanted to eat there at first because the wind was blowing this awful garbage smell from some near by gondola but after entering the tavern we were warmly welcome and seated. Drinks were brought out promptly and also our lunch in an acceptable time. The food looked very appetizing and was delicious. We also had... More

The restaurant came highly recommended and we read some reviews on Trip Advisor praising the place. Recent posts on Yelp raised eyebrows though of bad service, bad food and long wait time. Unfortunately we experienced all three. We go there early and were seated late; 45 minute wait. Seems like our reservation didn't matter much. My wife ordered the quartet... More

Based on a suggestion by a local we went to the Mala. We did not have a reservation and they still found us a table by the ocean overlooking a sea turtle sanctuary. We ordered the Asian chicken that was delicious. Our food was served promptly and the service was great. I will recommend it to my family.

A really fun spot. Especially if you can get a seat close to the open edge and the ocean. The table you get will really make a difference on your dining experience. Our last visit ended up inside beside the wait station and that wasn't very pleasant. Time before on the outside edge on a sunny day for lunch.... lovely.

Seafood was pretty good, especially the Ahi tuna. They took a same day reservation for 12 people, which was nice because not many restaurants can accommodate that size of group.

A friend whose parents live in Lahaina told us about this place, and it's a good thing, because it is not downtown in Lahaina, but a bit north on Front Street. We had a reservation, then when we arrived we requested a window or outside table. We had to wait about 20 minutes, but what a beautiful place to wait.... More

My wife and i were utterly disappointed by our experience with MaLa last night and id recomend you dont waste your time and your money. We arrived early and had a drink at the next door Hanu Seafood and Pizza which was lovely and we should have stayed, despite having the same owner as the soon-to-be-dissapointed-by Mala. We arrived at... More

The view is great and the brunch was too. We had the fried brussel sprouts and everyone went nuts for them. Everything else was great too from basic eggs and toast to the fancy omelets. Good pick for breakfast.

Practice Aloha is the slogan of this fine place; on the ocean. On the ocean is always a plus in my book; for some places it's an excuse to dish up mediocre food. Not so with Mala. It is a small place with good people and good food. They make homemade buns for their sandwiches, oh my. There are special... More
