Crowded little place we've been to twice with lots of atmosphere. Small bar with kinda wimpy guacamoloe while you wait. Tables on the deck have a nice view of the harbor and sunset. We had the opakapaka special for two, which is a pink snapper cooked whole. Plenty of fish for two with enough left over for lunch. more

This a great place to relax in the evening and watch the sunset. I forget the name of the dessert, but it will be easy to pick out, since it is definitely the most expensive. It had all kinds of local sliced fruit surrounding a scoop of ice cream. I know this sounds unimpressive, but it was simply amazing. -... more

We have been to Maui numerous times and this is the first time we have gone to Mala. The food and service was amazing. The complimentary chips and "dip" were very tasty. I had the tuna burger the first time went on this trip and the mahi mahi the second time. Yes, the food was so good we went back... more

I can understand how people would feel about cramped environment inside the restaurant - you are packed in like sardines. We went to the restaurant for "Happy Hour" (not all that "Happy" - the meals were only about $2 off and the drinks the same...but...) we had great seating outside on the patio deck seaside (Yes, we also saw the... more

We went there for lunch, had the cheese garlic flat bread, the Kobe burger and the Lamb Sausage flat bread, I know I know, 2 flat bread pizzas, but they were delicious. We also had the coconut Porter beer which my wife stole from me..lol. And the IPA beer, both were tasty. This place was rather pricey, actually a bit... more

We went on a recommendation, the spot was nice for lunch but the $20 burger was not worth it. The service was good. more

Called Maui's best kept secret, we tried Mala for lunch, hoping for interesting menu items to match the spectacular location & views. Unfortunately, the menu was lackluster (mahi was the only fresh fish option - could have gotten that at Maui Tacos). And what's up with charging 'market price' ($8 on 2/23) for a chicken breast (dry by the way)... more

We have been to Mala 6 times since it first opened and it really is hit or miss with the last two times being in the miss category. (We were last there Jan 28th). When it first opened it was relatively unknown, a good value, and mostly catered to locals but now it is expensive for what you get, they... more

Our party of two drove for 1 hour to get there for dinner on the 1st Dec '08 but it was not worth it. The seating area on the patio by the beach was so packed there was no privacy whatsoever. We were seated so close to the table next to us, we might as well be part of their... more
