Description: In the early days of the sugar plantations, lunch was a simple affair...
In the early days of the sugar plantations, lunch was a simple affair. Plantation workers gathered in the fields for their mid-day meal. The Japanese laborers would bring teriyaki beef with rice and pickled vegetables. Seated next to them might be their Filipino neighbors with the traditional dish adobo or perhaps a pork or chicken stew. The Koreans had their kalbi or marinated ribs and the Chinese a rice noodle and vegetable dish called chow fun. Hawaiians were known for their kalua pig, roasted in an underground oven called an imu. It wasn't long before they began to share their foods with one another and the "mixed plate" was born. Aloha Mixed Plate features true "Local" traditional plate lunches with open air seating directly on the ccean. We are open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Kali and Mai Tai

Small local dining joint across the street from the Cannery Mall. Drinks are the cheapest in the area and happy hour starts at 2pm. Laid back and not fancy: they work on Maui time. We always eat hear 1-2 times when in Maui. Go for an easy non-rushed meal with a nice sunset view. Kali ribs and... read more

They wouldn't serve us breakfast at 10:36 in the AM, which on an island is an absurd statement. This wasn't posted on any of their sites or menus. How is one supposed to go out for a moderate session of snorkeling to find breakfast has already been taken off the menu mid morning? I'm sure it would have been nice... More

Found this lovely little outdoor eatery in Maui when looking for a reasonable place to have lunch and not get price gouged. The food was delicious. I had the sesame chicken salad. Not fancy; this is an outdoor eatery to get a good meal for prices way below most eateries in this part of Maui. Definitely a stop if you... More

I was hoping it was going to be good since a local recommended it. It tasted like everything was prepackaged. I guess locals tell you about this place so you don't go to their favorite spots

We waited only 15 mins to be seated. The atmosphere was nice especially when they lit the torches. If you are seated by the water, especially at sunset, you are lucky. We were seated in the middle, near the bathrooms. The walls of the bathrooms didn't go all the way to the ground so you could see a plunger in... More

It was my first time in Maui and I needed a drink to celebrate. The menu was filled with interesting items but what caught my eye was the Sassy Wahini. This drink was delicious and had a combination of mangos and tequila that put my already great mood over the top. My salad and fries were really especially tasty as... More

Wife and I liked this place for a casual, mixed plate lunch. Dining on the water at a moderate price is hard to find but here it is. The Mai tai is good too. I would definitely return to this place.

The location of this restaurant right on the water that is enough however when combined with outstanding service and tremendous value for the food you have a winner for breakfast and dinner. Try to arrive at 8 AM when they open so you can sit beside the water.

This restaurant is right next to the Old Lahaina Luau, in fact, I think they are owned by the same people. The views are FANTASTIC. The restaurant is a deck right on the beach surrounded by trees. The sunset can not be beat! The food is good, but nothing out of this world. I like the pork. It's more about... More
