Casual Dining-By the Pool & Beach-TV's for Sports - Active Bar

Umalu is fun, casual with good food. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and at your service. A few steps to the Hyatt pool and a few more steps to the ocean.

We dined here twice during our stay in Maui. The food is very good, the flatbread is bbq pork in the evening and bbq chicken at lunch. Outstanding! Comfortable atmosphere

We weren't at all impressed with this restaurant. Staff couldn't care less with service, although our waitress was having a great time chatting with another table. Food average.

Deciding not to venture out one evening we figured we would eat at the hotel restaurant, Umalu. Close, cool ocean breeze, no driving. Sound great. I realize its a Hawaiian hotel. I know I will pay to prices. But the food was just so-so. Draft beer $7, hard liquor drinks $14. Good but pricey. Now for the food. Fish tacos... More

I know it's a casual spot, but this place didn't seem that clean to me. Sitting at the bar was a bit smelly. The food is so-so (I tried out a salad as a meal). It's like a loud bar/gathering spot, but I found it could use some sprucing up, especially for such a high end hotel.

Liked the food here, more like upscale bar food but good nonetheless. Having Umalu by the pool made it convenient for a quick drink, sandwich or snack during the day or evening while hanging out at the amazing pool areas of the resort.

This pool bar has the friendliest, most humorous and accommodating bartenders we've ever runs across. They make the best Mai Tais yet. The food was very good and the nachos were a meal for two. Highly recommended after a day outside, for ball games, after touring around the Hyatt and their art collection or just reading a book and imbibing.

Visited here a few times. They had a New Years Eve party free to the public! Free live band, free toast at midnight and free hats and horns! Great food at resort prices. Good drinks. What's not to like?

I only ate here in the evening. Perhaps it's better suited to lunch. I found there weren't enough tables, the service was poor. It seemed like the server was overwhelmed, trying to cover too much area. The food was pretty good, but we waited a long time. The menu was also very limited. I wanted more. The restaurant is pricey... More
