Description: When you come on up to visit us at Ulupalakua, you'll find it's not just about the drive. These days, it's about the food. "We're becoming a food destination," says Will Munder, Executive Chef of Ulupalakua Ranch Store & Grill. Mosey up to the counter, and you'll still find all the classic Ranch favorites, but the good stuff just got better. Now everything is made from scratch and as local as we can get it. The Ulupalakua lamb, beef and famous elk are part of our commitment to serve only meat from the Ranch or from Maui. And thanks to Upcountry's abundance. The bustling Grill gets crates of fresh local lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, pineapple, herbs and more, every morning. Reminders of times gone by are everywhere inside the Ulupalakua Store, from the sepia-toned photos on the walls to the cowboy hats on the shelves. The Store is a happy place of simple things, good things. Our motto here at Ulupalakua Ranch is: "Happy People." Plain and simple.

This is one of our favorite stores on Maui..really quaint and provides you with the upcountry, relaxed, rural vibe. They serve local elk and grass fed burger from Maui cattle company. Toppings and presentation is pretty bland but it's totally worth it to grab a quick bite and sit at one of the picnic tables and enjoy the view! I... More

This is one of our favorite stores on Maui. We also enjoy the local elk and grass fed beef hamburgers from Maui Cattle Company. A great place to visit when the beach resorts are so much cookie cutter places. This store and setting offer an authentic piece of the rural Paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) lifestyle and culture.

We happened upon the store and deli as we were exploring Kula and the Maui Vineyard. The burgers are great and they have a variety of options for lunch. They are very reasonably priced for Maui. There beef is homegrown, which is a plus. They also offer it for purchase, including steaks at a reasonable price. We would highly recommend... More

On our last trip to Maui we decided to take the full drive around the island. We drove to Hana and the Oheo Gulch (seven pools) and when we left the park lot, I turned left and we continued on. As and FYI, and on a separate topic we did not have 4 wheel drive. We had a Nissan Versa,... More

On our upcountry trip we stopped for a very late lunch. We were famished and the burger was made fresh. The hamburgers were hot and delicious. Locally produced jellies, mustard, and other sundries as well as crafts are available here. Definitely worth a stop.

I posted a review earlier saying how excellent the Ranch is. This review is to rave about the " Lamburger". The last one was about the excellence of the beefburger. Try the Lamburger instead of the beef. You will not be disappointed. However this place is not just about burgers. Chef Will , a real friendly character, has put a... More

Whether you order an elk burger or a plate lunch this is a great place to grab a bite after visiting the Tedeschi winery across the road. The food, service and atmosphere are great. Neat little store as well.

We had made a day of watching the sunrise on Haleakalā, visiting the lavendar farm, the winery (who suggested this lovely place for lunch), then the goat farm and finished up with the vodka distillery. It was an awesome day! We had the lamb burger and hamburger. Both were delicious! I would definitely eat here again! The staff at both... More

Had a beef burger. Has to be the best on the Island or anywhere for that matter. The beef is local and it was so succulent. The lettuce, tomato and onion came from the garden straight to the plate, so fresh. The side dish of smashed potato was out of this world. Throw in the really friendly folk and you have a... More

The sandwiches were large and tasty. The store is full of unique, locally made, souvenirs. Stop at the winery across the street for a tasting and a stroll through the gardens. (The winery is owned by the same family as the store and ranch.)
