When you come on up to visit us at Ulupalakua, you'll find it's not just about the drive. These days, it's about the food. "We're becoming a food destination," says Will Munder, Executive Chef of Ulupalakua Ranch Store & Grill. Mosey up to the counter, and you'll still find all the classic Ranch favorites, but the good stuff just got better. Now everything is made from scratch and as local as we can get it. The Ulupalakua lamb, beef and famous elk are part of our commitment to serve only meat from the Ranch or from Maui. And thanks to Upcountry's abundance. The bustling Grill gets crates of fresh local lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, pineapple, herbs and more, every morning. Reminders of times gone by are everywhere inside the Ulupalakua Store, from the sepia-toned photos on the walls to the cowboy hats on the shelves. The Store is a happy place of simple things, good things. Our motto here at Ulupalakua Ranch is: "Happy People." Plain and simple.

Well worth coming round

Another beautiful place to visit. The ranch is very nice and there's a little winery on the property. You can sample a wide variety of wines. Try the pineapple one, it's delicious! You can also buy the bottled wines and they pack it for you to take home. They have some other nice gifts from Maui to take home with... More

The grill was recommended to us by the employees of Ocean distillery. We were not disappointed either. Had a good select of different hamburgers and sandwiches. Made fresh on the grill when you ordered. No alcoholic beverages only soft drinks, so it your in the up country good place to stop and eat. Across the street is the winery tasting... More

So what do you do after you check out of your Maui hotel at 12:00pm and your flight home isn't until 10:30pm? A drive up country to the Ulupalakua Ranch Store & Grill is a great idea. The grill closes at 3pm so it is a great destination for a late lunch after checking out of your hotel. The home... More

The elk was dry and the beef was nothing special. The lamb burger was very good, but the buns need to be better. Either toasted or something higher end than Costco packs for 48 for $4. Bathrooms are across the street behind the tasting room.

A beautiful drive, coupled with a funky quaintness of Upcountry Maui (not to mention the winery right across the street) - makes this a great Upcountry day stop for lunch or a snack. Cute store with some more local/interesting items. Good photo op's. Food is just OK - with burgers good - cooked on the outside grill. Very low key... More

They treat you well here, and have great food fresh off the grill. Cute little country store. Across the street from a winery. Great stop for some good eats.

Burgers, pulled pork and fries were all very good. Sourced and prepared from the ranch, a good lunch/snack destination. Picnic table seating on the verandah is very relaxing. Deli inside has prepared foods to go. Go to winery across the road.

Going upcountry is one of our favorite things to do when in Maui. The drive is relaxing and the views are spectacular. The Ranch provides a kitchy gift shop as well as amazing choices for food produced as well upcountry. Definitely worth the drive

Follow an old, 40 mile long rock wall upcountry on this beautiful, quiet drive. Awesome ocean Vistas overlooking the island of Molokini. Pass by the Kula lodge, with their art gallery and scenic restaurant.
