Well worth the wait. Attempted to get a reservation during last trip to Maui and could not get in, so this time booked when making travel plans. Koiso only has 14 seats and is tucked away in an unassuming little strip mall off the main road in Kihei. Only two seatings per night at 6 and 7:30pm... read more

Seriously, book at least 2 weeks in advance if not more. This was the best sushi I have ever had!!! Super fresh, super special! The rice is like butter, melts in your mouth. Rarely do you see sea urchin on a menu and this was fantastic! Sit at the bar if you can to watch this sushi ninja work his... More

This is a tiny restaurant with very limited seating. You have to book way in advance. We booked more than 1 month in advance and it was hard to get a table. No walk-ins. We got 2 seats at the bar which was nice, we could watch Hiro, the sushi chef, preparing the food. We ordered the Omakase and black... More

After lengthy research on sushi options on the islands, we arrived at the decision to visit Koiso. Based on reviews, and because to the time difference where I live, I sent a handwritten letter 2 1/2 months ago requesting a reservation for dinner. Two weeks later at about 12:30 a.m. my time I received a call confirming my dinner for... More

Fresh and delicious. Friendly atmosphere and the owner(s) are very enjoyable to chat with. It is a very small establishment, therefore, very limited seating. (Less than 20) You are paying for quality, personalized attention; a good experience. I was not away of reservations and will be considering that for our next visit, you best too!

With only 15 seats and two sittings, reservations are a must and we book weeks in advance, it is that good. Fresh, expertly prepared and some of the best fish anywhere. Truly for sushi and sashimi aficionados, everyone waits for their order and gets to enjoy watching the preparation.

We've eaten here a few times. It never disappoints. This place has no self-promotion or hype. It is the real deal. Always go with Chef's Choice. Always make reservations in advance.

I may have had too high of expectations. We called a month in advance to get a reservation. We arrived and the owner and his wife were very friendly. We sat at the bar and watched the sushi being prepared, which is pretty incredible. We ordered omakase and I thought we would be served on piece at a time but... More

For our belated honeymoon we booked our plane tickets, accommodations in Kihei, and then reservations at Koiso. My wife was so determined to eat there that she took the advice to book early very seriously. In fact, of the 15 people (there are that many seats) in the restaurant for the 6 pm seating, all were locals except for us... More

Classic sushi experience in a small, quaint setting. Simple white board menu with daily fish selections for nigiri or sashimi, and a selection of rolls. Feeling adventurous? Ask about the Omakase, the Chef's selection of nigiri. No bargains to be found here, but if you enjoy sushi, you will appreciate the Koiso experience.
