This is a great sushi place. However, they don't have a lot of rolls just fresh fish. However, the chef would probably make you any roll you asked for and he is good at making recommendations. They seem to only have sushi and miso soup, so don't expect any noodles or other dishes. I got to try a lot of... more

After reading so many rave reviews, our family of 5 tried Koiso for Dinner and we loved it! Mom and dad thoroughly enjoyed the Nigiri we ordered-- the Toro was as buttery and silky as I've ever had (including @ a sushi bar next to the Tsukiji Fish Market). The kids enjoyed the "deluxe" miso soup, which was loaded with... more

I've had some very good sushi - including some special items made for me by a friend's son who is the head chef at a local sushi restaurant. This was really amazing. The fish was so fresh and tasty. Everything was prepared with precision. At one point we ordered the fresh shrimp. It was delicious - sweet, soft - unlike... more

We almost missed this gem of a restaurant! It's a tiny restaurant in kind of a grungy shopping center (Dolphin Plaza, anyone?). My bf loves sushi, so we went on a lark. Oh my goodness! The sushi was amazing. It is a very tiny restaurant, but thankfully we got in with no problems. (In reading the reviews now that I... more

We read some reviews on tripadvisor so decided to listen to the recommendations and try it out. My husband made reservations for that night. We drove from our hotel to the restaurant and was a little hesitant being that it was part of a run down strip mall. The place is super tiny and the atmosphere is nothing special but... more

Ate here last week on vacation, visiting with my father who is a resident of Oahu. The other reviews are correct about the fish being excellent, but I had a terrible experience with the chef/owner, who I would characterize as the "Sushi Nazi" a la Seinfeld and not a nice person at all. There appear to be certain rules you... more

I hesitate to write this review ............ only because I wouldn't want to have the place get too popular and tougher to get in !! BEST find in Kihei (Thanks to TA). Tiny place (literally, 10 to 12 customers), so phone ahead for a reservation. The menu is modest in scope, but what is offered is absolutely fantastic. Fresh. Fresh.... more

It took us until our fourth trip to Maui to discover this place. It is, like so many other reviews say, the best sushi you've ever had. Simple, fresh, perfectly prepared. You definitely need a reservation, but they are open later than most restaurants in the area. The only down side is that you'll never look at your local sushi... more

This restaurant will provide you with a unique dining experience in Maui! The owner/Chef runs this restaurant like he's having you over for dinner. It's very small and quaint, seating only about 10 people. The sushi is very delicious and made with the upmost care and creativity. You cannot go wrong when trying this local gem! Reservations required. more

I'm a sushi/raw fish/seafood lover, and I eat at Japanese restaurants at least twice a months. I'm pretty advanturous when it comes to eating, and I always explore different sushi restaurants to find the best sushi/sashimi. No other sushi place can compare to Koiso Sushi Bar. It's the best I've ever tried! You should call always make a reservation at... more
