Very Casual and they do a lot of take out for locals. The food was quite good and the service was very friendly. It is a small place in a strip mall so don't expect the fancy decorations that you might find in a place that caters to tourists, but you wont find the higher prices either.

Go here if you are HUNGRY! My goodness they give you a lot of food for a very reasonable price! Nightly specials. A lot on the menu. Small seating area with a few tables, but best for take out. Like, back to your lanai to watch the sunset!

Wonderful plates of food. The chicken Katsura was the best. So we're the fish and chips. Salads not too exciting.

I have eaten more than my share of Loco Moco and the meal "of same" I had here recently was just wonderful. The hamburger was "fresh" not frozen as many places tend to serve. I enjoyed having the onions as an "add on" rather than being incorporated into the hamburger. The gravy, rice and eggs were just like I want... More

If you don't go with a local, you'll have a very difficult time deciding what to try. The portions are huge. This is not low cal fare, most of the food is fried. I had the noodles and the beef was old. Not my type of fare.

Try the Korean Chicken Plate Lunch. Huge portions of chicken together with 2 scoops rice and 1 scoop potato/mac salad. Yummy! Small place in Rainbow Shopping Center with adequate parking. Don't try it dring lunch rush hour as the small place fills up fast, but do try to go you'll be glad you did.

Many previous reviewers have commented on the origin of plate lunches and the fact you get generous portions of food at Da Kitchen. What makes Da Kitchen stand out from other Hawaiian style plate lunch restaurants is the staff. They are absolutely the best in explaining the menu and being patient with new customers who are unsure of what to... More

Saw the high rating so had to try it. Doesn't look too special on the outside. Plenty of free parking (uncommon in Kihei). Walked in and decided to get one of their specials (bento #3), which consists of two scoops of rice, BBQ beef, 2 pieces of fried fish and Korean fried chicken. WOW it was good! The Korean fried... In case you don't know, Plate lunch is a Local HI favorite. It combines ethnic cuisines and is said to have sprung from Multiple Ethnicity Cane Workers sharing their lunches. It is normally 2 scoops of rice, a scoop of potato or mac salad, (or if you're lucky, potatomac salad!), plus BBQed meat(s) or fried Katsu style... Get the Big... More
