This charming establishment in 'upcountry' in the little town of Haiku. I would choose Hana Hou over Mama's Fish House any time. It's ambience is incredibly romantic and Aloha, without that cheesy, tacky vibe that so many establishments have on the well beaten path of many restaurants in Maui. The service was impeccable. Every one was genuinely kind and warm.... More

We went to Hana Hou Cafe to celebrate part 2 of our anniversary. It was late but the enertainment was still going. They had a very talented young lady playing her guitar. Food was delicious and the drinks were too. This is a very small yet cozy cafe with so much heart Thanks for an unforgettable night <3

Stopped in for breakfast on our way to Volcano park, from Kona. We both had a great meal. I had my favourite - 1egg, bacon and a pancake. Pancake was a treat with coconut syrup! My sister had "the breakfast special"- eggs, smoked pork and rice (tho they ran out of rice so asked if they could substitute toast). Everything... More

Just returned from a trip to lovely Maui. We had the pleasure to eat dinner at this out of the way restaurant in Haiku. The restaurant in set in a tiny "strip mall" but don't be discouraged. Inside, the setting is perfect, there are gardens visible from all windows, and an partially outdoor eating area where live music was playing... More

My sweetheart and I had lunch on the way back to our hotel. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant and were treated well by the friendly staff. Our waiter was friendly, accommodating (I'd just bought some ice cream at a nearby market and he put it in the restaurant freezer for me while we ate) and knowledgeable about the area... More

I've been to the Hana Hou Cafe a couple time and it's always been a good experience. First time with my wife and second time with my wife and some friends that we were showing some of the local sights. We stopped for lunch. It's casual and you wouldn't expect fine food. It was very good. French Press coffee is... More

After a day spent checking out the big surf at Ho'okipa Beach and a casual drive through Upcountry, we stopped at the Hana Hou Cafe for Monday night dinner. We loved the local vibe to the Cafe, and lucked into a night when the Hula Honey's Trio were performing. The whole evening was a fantastic experience. Service was terrific, the... More

The lunch menu is reasonably priced, the indoor outdoor atmosphere pleasant and the burgers made from Upcountry grass feed beef are delicious for under $10. My husband and I did not enjoy the dinner menu or live music however. Both were marginal at best.

I love the casual local vibe, food, service and music on Friday nights, when Steven Sargenti is playing and singing! Great indoor-outdoor atmosphere. Very comfortable, inviting and always good to see other locals enjoying themselves here. I highly recommend treating yourself to this Haiku treasure.
