They poke a hole in a freshly baked roll, pour in the toppings you choose, then stick a hot dog in the hole, put more toppings in the hole and you have a delicious hot dog.

Yes we spent $7 on a puka dog. Interesting, not bad, but once you've had one, I'd say that was enough!

These puka dogs are awesome! Several flavors of relish and crispy bread inside next to the sausage. Lemonade excellent! The only problem was mosquitos hanging around, but that can happen anywhere! Many days there are hula dancers or fire twirlers in the shopping center.

Have to try Puka dog. Great dogs and lemonade after a surf session. These must be bad for you since they taste so good.

A unique take on the hot dog. Puka has veggie dogs and it can be vegan if you leave out their special sauces. Load up on the fruity goo instead. Anthony Bourdaine has eaten at Puka, so that says something, right?

Had to try one of these. The server insisted on trying the sauce and relish as I just wanted a plain hotdog. It wasn't bad, but they put too much sauce on to my liking. If you don't normally put sauce/relish on a hotdog, definitely tell them limit how much they put on there. If you are a fan of... More

We had to try these hot dogs. They're quite fun, served in a tubular bun with a variety of toppings, including sauces and relishes that range from fruity to spicy. The four of us each ordered something different and it was a fun and affordable lunch, even for those of us who are not hot dog fans. I think it's... More

The Puka dog is uniquely Hawaiian and wonderful. Lots of choices for toppings but the Hawaiian mustard is a must. Could eat this every day.

I visited the location in Poipu and Hanalei, which is located in the Ching Young Village, which is on the makai (ocean) side of the highway. For a first-timer, ask to taste the fruit relish first and get condiment recommendations from the staff before ordering. I tried the pineapple and mango relish. The buns were better than buns you can... More

My husband and I were walking through this small village of shops and stumbled upon Puka Dog...my husband IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZED it. It totally lived up to his TV expectations. Great stop..must do in Kauai!
