We had 5 people in our family for a reservation tonight on 7/14/09. Our 9 year old ordered spaghetti and meatballs- she ate one and gave me one. I immediately noticed that they tasted like fish and were rancid. I had my mother and father try them at the table and they agreed. After calling the owner over to the... more

After Gaylords, this is defintely the second best resturant on Kauai. Great food, great service! The prices are reasonable, but in the higher end. I would definitely go back if I'm ever back on Kauai again. more

My husband and I travel to Kauai 2 to 3 times a year. Over the years we've dined at most every restaurant on the island. While we enjoy italian food, when in Kauai we usually perfer seafood. But on this trip we had cooler weather so thought we would try Cafe Portofino which we thought would be good given it's... more

We returned to Cafe Portofino after 4 years. 4 years ago it was superb. It's gone done hill since then. I must say the staff is very gracious and we had no problem with the service. We ordered the antipasto. One of the items was missing and the calamari was practically raw. When asked about the missing item we were... more

The food was average at best. It was our most expensive meal during our 10 day visit to Kauai, but our worst experience. The service was poor. Would not recommend it. more

Some think they have died and gone to heaven when the harp music starts! Guissepe, the owner, when present, makes sure the experience is worth the tab. An inclusive menu of fine Italian treats usually cooked to perfection. Not always a 10, but never less than a 7+. Beautiful location. You can park for free with the valet at the... more

We have had dinner at Cafe Portofino on many occassions and have always had a great experience. The owner is a wonderful host and always greets us warmly. We have had many different people wait on us and have always been treated great. The views are wonderful, the setting is magical and the food has always been superb. We have... more

We ordered the Ono - the waiter said it was one of the specials and fresh in - it was overcooked and dry. The pasta had so much garlic in it that it could not be finished. We ordered a bowl of noodles with butter for our daughter and were charged $12. The maitre d' / owner was incredible rude... more

food was ok but they are tricky about wording things and tacking on more money. example: you order the fettuccini alfredo and they ask "with chicken or shrimp", but leave out the fact that its $5 extra for either. they bring you "refills" for your pop without mentioning that each refill is $2. it's also $20 for 9 raviolis that... more
