Busy, but lined move fast. We always agree " no chain restaurants" when traveling, and eating at tip top is the reason why. It's a great local joint/ unique to Lihue Kauai, Hawaii. Can't be duplicated. Lots of locals, not a tourist destination, no tropical decor. Open breakfast and lunch Great fried chicken Excellent rib eye steak The bento plate... More

This is definitely a local gem. The service is fast and pleasant, the food is fantastic, and while the place is definitely a joint it's immaculate. You may wait a short while but the turnover is quick and the wait totally worthwhile. We did not have the Loco Moco but the folks at an adjoining table had it and said... More

Coffee was fast and very decent. We got 2 eggs, fried spam, and hash browns which was great. We also got a Portuguese sausage omlett which was very good. The best was the pancakes with pineapple and macadamia nuts. Service wad very fast and friendly. Highly recommend to fans of diner style breakfast food.

From the suggestion of a local, I arrived at Tip Top Cafe & Bakery. After a short walk to the sitting area of the restaurant, I saw the diner style seats. There were tables for two and tables for four. The middle dividers between the tables for four were missing so this easily seats a table for eight. I ordered... More

Crowded with locals is a good sign. Good, not great food. Prices were reasonable for locale. Had lunch and might try again for breakfast if in the area

We asked our bellman for a good breakfast spot. Without hesitation he blurted out Tip Top Cafe. We weren't disappointed. There was 4 of us and we were all satisfied. Fast, friendly service, good food at reasonable prices. There were a lot of local people which was another indication of a good deal.

Don't look for ambience, if you prefer to go where the locals go for their meals, this is the place to go. It's tucked in one of the side roads along 570, on the ground floor of the motel. We had our breakfast there most of our stay and you would know right away that a lot of the customers... More

Tip Top came highly recommended from some friends that frequent Kauai. It is located in an office style building and has a very cafeteria type feel. The ambience is a little odd, you can tell its a local favorite, a bit off the beaten path. The servers all wear scrubs and push utility carts around for everything. As far as... More

We heard this was the place locals go for breakfast so we thought we'd give it a try. The food was okay but after reading some of the earlier reviews, we thought we'd be more impressed. We both had an omelette and they were rather bland despite onions, peppers, sausage, etc. The homefries were a square block of fried potatoes... More
