Nice oceanfront Italian place

Cafe Portofino does have the misfortune of sorts of being right next to the ever-popular Duke's restaurant, which always seemed to have so many more people eating there around dinnertime. What a wonderful find. This tablecloth restaurant was first class. We even had the pleasure of meeting and spending a few momemts speaking with the owner. The service was top notch and the food was out of this world. I highly recommend this place for dinner. I also think his food prices were excellent, especially since Hawaii is an expensive... More

My husband and I had a nice romantic dinner here. We both had fish with piccatta sauce and calamari for an appetizer. The seafood is so fresh and excellently prepared. We dined on their outdoor patio overlooking the ocean. They have a big menu with many choices, a good wine selection.

If you like Italian food you'll love this restaurant! Every dish is delicious - (we've tried them)! They also have great dinners with fresh fish! It's so hard to find restaurants that serve escargot but they do and it's delicious. The dining atompshere is lovely overlooking the ocean with a fabulous harpist playing in the background. A must visit place!

As some of the reviews note, Cafe Portofino seems to be the overflow section for those who don't want to wait 30-40 mins for a table at Duke's, which is literally attached to Cafe Portofino... the location is convenient and the ambiance with an ocean view (if you sit by the edge of the deck) is almost romantic... however, someone... We stopped here because there was a 45 to 60 minute wait next door at Duke's. We arrived for dinner on 03/23 with out reservations and were promptly seated by a very gracious host. Water and bread tray were always kept full. Portions were large and delicious. And a great view of Kalapaki beach, bay and Nawiliwili harbor.

I took my boyfriend to this restaurant for his birthday and for the last night of our vacation. The restaurant presents itself as very upscale and romantic. However, after sitting at the table for a few minutes, you realize that the overhead spotlights are too bright and shine annoyingly in your eyes and ruin the ambience. I had lasagna which... More

We tried to have dinner at our "usual" Duke's in the Kauai Marriott. There was an hour wait for a table as well as a bar table - our flight was leaving in a couple hours so we couldn't wait. We walked down to Cafe Portofino, right below, and we were not disappointed! Service was great and the food was... More

We've been staying at the Marriott Beach club for over 12 years and had never tried the Cafe! We finally gave it a try the other night. Took our 2-14yo,21yo and my wife. It was really good, I had lasagna it was great, everyone else had pasta of some sort and were very happy. The portions aren't too big but... More

We had and excellent dinner of filet and veal. It was not steak Diane but was served by a delightful waitress Diane. We enjoyed so much we came back for dinner again tonight to try the pastas. Excellent cannelloni and lasagna. Service friendly and efficient. We have a plane to catch so relaxed but in a hurry. Good place by... More
