I simply can not understand the rave reviews of this place. The service was poor from the start...we arreived and made the hostess aware of our reservation. 3 women then proceeded to "conference" about seating us. You'd think it was the UN. Finally seated after 5 mins to find the restaurant half empty. Many service people running around but no... more

For Kauai this is budget sit down dining. I was assured the fish was picked out by the chef every day, fresh. The sushi (Bali Hi Bomb roll was fabulous) was great as were the noodle dishes (Yose Nabe). We went back again during our trip and it was consistent. The drinks were also well made and tasty. The staff... more

I ate here because of recommendations from both locals and tourist. We made reservations (thank goodness because it gets really crowded) on a Friday night at 6:30pm for the cooking table (Teppanyaki). We were seated on time. They reserve specific times for the cooking tables because there are 6 seats per table. We were are party of 2 and were... more

My husband and I enjoyed the sushi and sashimi so much that we returned 2 additional times to the restaurant before we left for the mainland! We especially loved the Bali Hai Bomb Roll, Kamikaze Roll, Hanalai Roll and the fried wontons. The sushi was very fresh and we thought that the prices were really reasonable. We did make sure... more

The sushi here is amazing. The food is fresh, the staff is friendly, and the service is great!! The owner is one of the nicest ladies I have met. Have eaten here multiple times and have never been disappointed. I recommend the soft shell crab hand roll!! Yummy!!! more

I love kintaros, they have the best sushi in the world, its simple but good. I would stay away from the tin foil special though. They use old fish for it. But the sushi is fresh. more

We went to Kintaro's twice on our trip to Kauai this year (have been a number of times in the past as well). We love the "Bali Hai Bomb", "Hanalei Roll" and "Soft Shell Crab" sushi rolls. We have only had the sushi so can't comment on the other food at the restaurant. The sushi is fresh and really tasty.... more

This place is truly awful, and it was the only thing our group didn't like about the beautiful island of Kauai. Not only did the hostess lie to us about the amount of time we would have to wait for a table and seat many groups of locals in front of us, but the place was disgusting, the restaurant was... more

We liked Kintaro's so much, we went there twice on our 10-day trip! We had sushi each time, and it was so fresh and delicious. They had great rolls, too. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering everything in Hawaii seems so much more expensive! Two of us got STUFFED on sushi and rolls for $35 (no drinks). more

If you like sushi, you will likely love this place. Not the best prep of the sushi (rolls were very loosely rolled). But was very fresh, delicious, and pretty cheap at $5 to $8 per roll. I would stay away from the food, not so great. Go here for the sushi. more
