Little hole-in-the wall with popular and tasty saimin

I have to say, I had never had saimin before. My daughter had a lead on this restaurant from a college instructor who knows the island. We found it a very unassuming place. But it was busy at lunch time. We had to stand at the door until seats at the winding counter opened up. There are places... read more

For Kauai, not bad......an institution......been here probably forever. I think you probably could make a better bowl of saimin at home but come here for the the nostalgia and eating at a place living on its past laurels. Overly salty, over carbed.....the way locals like it. You might be the only non-local customer if you visit.

This is a really good stop for local saimin, but better bring cash as like many of these small local places credit cards are not accepted. The prices are excellent and food really good. The only reason not 5 star is the noodles were not long and chewy, like the fresh saimin I'm used to in Honolulu. These were a... More

This is a must go not because of the actual food quality, which was fine. Three women worked in this cafe which on a Wednesday night was filled. They cooked, cleaned dishes, waited on people, ran the register, everything. Locals outnumbered tourists. It is first come first served, take a seat when possible in consideration of whomever was first because... More

There was a huge line outside of this place so apparently everyone else likes it, but my wife and I were pretty disappointed. We heard they had the best lilikoi chiffon pie on the island, but we thought it was pretty bland and disappointing. We also had a bowl of noodles but I think if you're from LA (where they... More

Small, homely, local recommended, worth the wait for a table, a real ma and pa eatery. Great place just to talk with the locals, you might have to sit with others, but that's what Hawaii is all about.

Local joint, usually a wait, but worth it for authentic saimin. Love the atmosphere. Nothing fancy, just good food and a good price.
