Great saimin and incredible pie. Not fancy, but it wouldn't be a trip to Kauai without a visit here. You grab a seat at the counter. Service is efficient, but minimal. The soup is tasty and plentiful. Lots of families and a few tourist. This is a real Lihue tradition!

1950's style counter and stools. Lineup of people waiting for a seat. Food- fantastic. I went back every chance I got, and found that a bowl of saimin and meat on a stick was my favourite lunch. Best saimin I've ever tasted---and I've tried it all over the islands.

Whenever we're in Kauai, as soon as we land, we head over to Hamur Saimen for a couple of bowls of great Saimen noodle soup. The place has been around since 1951 and it's where the locals go for simple but wonderful meals. Hamura's menu is very basic but filling. Several types of Saimen; fried noodle dishes and BBC beef,... More

A friend recommended this spot after we landed and sure enough, we went after we landed and got our rental car. It's a little hidden since it's really kind of on an off road that's more like an alley, and is really an old-school hole in the wall type place. While it won't win any awards for ambiance, the saimin... More

Pretty flavorless unless you dose it up with mustard, hot sauce, etc. Service is friendly and efficient. Spartan seating, but it works. Definitely a local hangout.

My family & I love noodles! Because it is well known and people rave about it, I had to at least try it once. But because it's spoken highly of my expectations were high. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious...I just expected it to be WOW! I would definitely eat there again, but if it's packed I will just... More

My wife and I visited this place at the recommendation of our friend. We walked in at 8:00pm on a Saturday night and took the last two seats. When we looked around we realized there was nothing but locals in this place so you know it had to be good and it did not disappoint us at all. We both... More

Everyone says this is a hidden gem, but the two times I went there were plenty of tourists to be seen. The Saimin was quite tasty and I do recommend eating here. Order the Special and get a slice of pie for dessert. Cash only. Not vegetarian or vegan friendly

If you walk in and the place is full of locals, then you know it's good. Come a little on the early side so you get a spot right outside and before the big afternoon lunch rush. Old school service with counters and stools, if it's busy just be a little patient and watch them cook your food! Extra large... More

I wanted to try authentic local food, and without a doubt got it. We were the only tourists when we went in for lunch, and the food was delicious. The big detractor was the service. Waiting for a counter spot was no big deal, but waiting more than 10 minutes for someone to clean up the previous occupants' dishes and... More
