Why would you come here? You come for the kitsch factor. You go out of curiosity. You go for a good bowl of saimin for cheap. You go with an open mind and you might actually enjoy the experience as much as we did. You find an open seat. You sit down. You wait for the little grandma to SLOWLY... More

Famous for its Saimin selections, Hamura's Saimin Stand is (1) not easy to find, (2) serves tasty, inexpensive Saimin, (3) has "service" at turtle speed, but (3) makes/sells THE BEST Lilikoi chiffon pie on any of the 4 major islands of Hawaii. We took one back to our timeshare and devoured it! They take cash only, but their prices won't... More

This place is good if you are not expecting fine dining. Its a local place for saimin type of food. Which is a noodle with meat or fish soup. The food is very tasty and the prices are good. Overall I would come back again and try other stuff.

There is nothing special about this place. Maybe 20 years it was cool to eat with the locals, those days have passed. The saimin is barely OK and the famous lilikoi chiffon pie is not even "Mrs Smith" quality. I'm sorry, but that's MHO.

Hamura Saimin Stand is an cultural icon in Kauai. It is in every tourist guide book for good food and is listed as #14 on Tripadvisor. There are not that many restaurant choices in Kauai and most are catered to tourists. This local favorite serves saimin or better known as ramen to mainlanders, a Chinese noodle adopted by the Japanese.... More

This is no frills at its very best. You walk into an unconditioned diner with just counters. It can be confusing, but just take any open seats. The first time we were not even offered a menu but simply asked, "Can I help you?". It appears to be run by four ladies and the food is cheap and delicious. I... More

Already knew about Hamura from friends. It was our first meal stop right off the plane. Out of the way, but easy to find. Sampled the wonton min ramen, fried wonton and chicken and beef stick. Can't beat it for local flava.

What more can I say about this place that hasn't already been said. We make this our must stop place everytime we come to Kauai. The food is consistently prepared to perfection! It's the place where all saimin is compared. The place has character. But it's all about the food. Mostly counter space and one big table for people to... More

We've been visitng here for years! Expect to wait politely for a stool to open up at most times of the day and don't forget to enjoy a slice of lilikoi pie! Also, cash only so be prepared and don't slow up the restaurant!

Yes...this town is certainly lacking much personality and is not a destination for the most part. However, if you are passing through on the way to the airport and you crave cafe style atmosphere, Hamura Salmin is the place to go.
