Love this place!

We came at the recommendation of a local, it's very basic. I loved the atmosphere, ladies that work there and the food was good! Nothing fancy by any stretch but a good local experience. We had the saimin, saimin special, won ton soup -all good. Crispy wontons and shrimp tempura were good too, not... read more

This is a very popular place for both tourists and locals. Can be very crowded at times. Saiman is the thing to eat here. Decent and inexpensive. I thought the bbq beef sticks were delicious.

The noodle stand is exactly as it was since the last time I was there 25 years ago. Yes, that is a good thing! It's the simplistic low counters, stools and swinging screen door that makes you feel like you are eating home cooked foods. A MUST stop for lunch or dinner while on Kauai. We took our food to... I had never had saimen before and figured it was very similar to ramen. In some aspects it is, like the noodles, but the rest of the dish is very different. It was all very tasty together! The service was fast and I think they refilled my water glass at least 6 times which I absolutely loved! We also got... More

Look, it's saimin, a Hawaiian version of ramen, and it's really really tasty, plus super cheap. Cheapest meal we had on Kauai--with tip, fed my husband, my son, and me for $27. We came in for dinner and there was loads of room to sit and the women serving were fast friendly, and efficient. Highly recommend the special saimin.

For $13, my wife and I had one of the best meals on our entire trip. Wow! I love saimin, and couldn't wait to visit. On an old commercial street (Kress Street) which runs off Rice Street in Lihue. Park on the street. This place is totally off the grid. Coca-Cola sign menu. I had the Special Saimin, complete with... More

When on Kauai, you have to stop at Hamura's. Great comfort food. Service, this visit, was not a good one. She was a little grouchy and asked the same question four times. Husband is not one to notice those kind of things, but even he said she was a bit grouchy. Didn't bother me . . . I love Hamura's... More

Very outdated, mess hall style, counter tops wrapped around, service is bar like, no where near clean, street vendor feel only it's indoors. Needs a facelift. Also food is no good. Not a fan and do not recommend.

Definitely a Kauai institution. Ordered the special -- won tons were soggy and overcooked. The broth is very tasty but the noodles and won ton are just okay. It's not worth the wait nor expense. Lots of locals come here but not sure why.

Rain day today. Felt like returning to our favorite local place for take out. As usual food was tasty. We got The special and won Ton soup. Yummy. Hope they never close. Nice to see the Aunties. Thank you.
