Popular local spot, very busy for lunch. Been there several times over the years and enjoyed the noodle concoctions served by a team of loving Aunties who keep things moving along. This time, however, something didn't click for me. I think it was the Spam in the saimin that turned me off. But my friend had the shrimp saimin bowl,... More

All counter seating. No tables. Local working crowd. Orders are not written down. Noodles are good and broth has good flavor. Get the pie for dessert too!

Go here to experience a throwback in time. The building, furniture, service, and food give you a feeling of what local food was like 50 years ago. Food is predominantly saimin and barbeque meats. Very reasonably priced. I found my saimin to be quite good. While I have come to expect air conditioning, service with a smile, and well maintained... More

I came here today with my daughters. I'm one not to judge a book by its cover so I went in having seen good reviews on a fodors.. The saimin was tasteless and the chicken sticks were most likely cooked hours before. The service is so so ... I did eat most of mine however, but my daughters stopped after... More

Went back today for lunch. The quality of the food is wonderful and we enjoyed a repeat visit to Hamura Saimin Stand. Definitely recommmend this place. Right behind the Salvation Army Store in Lihue.

It's hard to be objective about Hamura Saimen. I've been told that the saimen here is the best. I wouldn't know because I didn't grow up on it. My wife loves it. This is sure, among locals, this place has almost mythic status. As has been said, don't expect much in terms of decor, or ambiance. Find yourself an open... More

This is a local noodle or Saimin stand in central Lihue. This is a locals type place, so leave your pretensions at the door. Seating is U-shaped communal style, service is brisk and stern, but the noodles are oh-so-good! Apparently Saimin is a blended style of Chinese, Japanese and Filipino noodle dishes. The noodle is a wheat-type noodle like ramen,... More

Before leaving Kauai we asked local merchants where they would suggest we go for a good meal. We were directed to this Saimin stand and told this is a regular hang out for local residents. We had never had Saimin before, but we were game for a new experience. When we entered, it appeared we were the only out-of-towners there.... More

Stopped by sandy and wet after hours of snorkeling, and just asked for twomedium-sized Saimins, unsure of how or what to order. We fell in love with this scrumptious flavorful comfort food, basically a noodle soup with a little of this and that thrown in, but the flavor...you have to try this little place! The noodles and broth were out... More

This spot has been serving since forever. Do not expect red carpet treatment, expect good honest food. A favorite of my relatives who were born on Kauai. Leave your pretensions at the door and respect the locals.
