Gotta try it

Authentic local fare. Not to be missed. This is the combining of different influences (Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, etc) that is typical of Hawaii. However, your kids probably won't eat it. Mine didn't.

This style of restaurant is a vanishing breed. Its not pretty, its not trendy, is just authentic saimin and teri sticks. The food is honest and plentiful and inexpensive. The atmosphere is 1940's Japanese worker motif with low stool around communal counter spaces. However, the darling women who work here are as much a part of the place as the... More

Hawaii is not known as a place for good values in general and particularly on food. Hamura Saimin is the exception. It is a small local dive that sells very few items that are very well done and would be a bargain even at twice the price.

We were pretty exhausted after our raft ride up the Napali Coast. I had chosen this restaurant from my guide because I was paying for 6 people, and it seemed like good food at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, it was so hot when we entered the restaurant that the thought of pho was not that appealing. We ordered an appetizer of... More

Loved this place! Close to airport and we stopped by on our way there. The Saimin was fabulous and they made me a bowl minus the meat. SO YUMMY! The noodles were out of this world and so fresh. My family loved the Lilikoi pie. Also delicious. Friendly prompt service. Bring cash. Don't miss this neat local place! No AC,... More

Awesome place to eat with the locals. We have at least two meals at Hamura during our annual visits to Lihue.

We were starving when we arrived. This was very close to the airport and recommended in a guidebook. It was very well worth the stop. Low prices, little shack, but magnificent food!!!
