First stop in Kauai

Hamura's is our first stop whenever we go to Kauai. It hasn't changed since our first visit nearly 20 years ago and the food is still tasty as ever. I always have my saimin "half" (meaning al dente), and enjoy the beef and chicken kushiyaki. My big disappointment was the lilikoi pie--the flavor... read more

I had the special. Saimin was really good and came in a huge bowl. I used to eat a lot of ramen noodles back in the day. This is ramen on steroids though. All the extra stuff they throw in there. This place came highly recommended. A few customers said that Hamura is there first and last meal on Kuaui... More

An affordable and tasty old-style saimin stand. First-come, first-serve seating (if you're in a large group, don't expect to sit together). The saimin is average, but bump up the rating one notch because it is very affordable, and an excellent alternative dining location. Get the special and the lilokoi pie. Supplement with chix/beef skewers if you have a large appetite.

We tried to eat at local restaurants while in Hawaii, so we sought this one out. I had saimin and my husband had several appetizers. We found them fresh and well prepared. The service was quick and brought to our family style table as soon as it came out of the pot.

Went about 1130 Sat AM. Not crowded yet. Pleasant service and prompt delivery. Consistently good saimin for me and wonton soup for companion

Or maybe it's our tastes. But neither my wife nor I thought much of the wonton bowl. The wontons were OK, as was the broth, but the pork was fatty and the rest of the meat not great. We picked it from The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook, usually a decent source, to try local food.

Traditional local favorite is reliable. Come experience a bit of local history with a simple lunch. Typically a line out the door so allow time for a leisurely lunch

After reading all of the strong reviews for Hamura's, my wife and I decided to walk over and have some dinner there. It is a small building with counter seating as described in all of the other reviews. I would not say that they were top Ramen Nazis but not the friendliest folks we have ever met. I chalk it... This is the sort of restaurant that is unique and authentic and is best of class. Like New York delis or Maine lobster rolls and Southern BBQ this is the real deal and part of our American culture. We have enjoyed Hamuras for well over 30 years and little changes. Always outstanding noodle bowls and BBQ chicken and beef sticks.... More

We've been coming here for lunch on all our Kauai visits for about 30 years. Always delicious noodle dishes and great shave ice. Always busy at lunch hour. Cash only. Good value.
