The noodles are handmade saimin style by little ladies in full view. That's the view - a dying art of making noodles by hand. The place is tiny and fills up fast. Don't expect anything remotely trendy or fancy - this is the regular eating place of the masses. Good, substantial island food at a good price. The add ons... more

Just read a sampling of about 5 reviews, if it sounds like your bag then you'll love it. It is a hole in the wall place, when we went it was packed and it looked like we were the only tourists. We were lucky enough to sit next to a local couple that were extremely friendly, and helped guide us... more

absolutely delicious and unpretentious. Mostly for locals, not uptight mainland tourists. Reminded me of the "soup nazi" episode on Seinfeld, not because the women are unfriendly, they are laid-back natives who pace themselves at their own rate, not at yours. So if you are expecting PF Chang-levels of friendliness and peppiness, stay home in suburbia. The food is wonderful for... more

Very good saimin and Lilikoi pie. Honest down home food which I really enjoyed.. Like others said it can be crowded. Try it later in the evening, on the way back from you travels. it wil be cooler and less crowded. Take home a pie for $15. The general seating at the zig zag counters make for a friendly and... more

Hahaha, can I tell you how much I love this joint?? It is bare bones, no nonsense Old Hawaiian dining back to my youth in Hawaii. It is REAL saimin, not some pale ramen imitation. These are the flavors I remember as a keiki. There is nothing fancy about this place, just inexpensive, honest saimin. more

After reading good reviews here on TripAdvisor, I decided to check out Hamura's Saimin Stand on a recent trip to Kauai. As expected, I waited for about 20 minutes for room at the counter to open up. I ordered the extra large "special" for $7.50. It was good, but nothing special – maybe because I am not Hawaiian and haven't... more

The noodles were good - but nothing spectacular. The value of eating here is sitting down to the lunch counters and feeling like a local. It's not an air conditioned building - in fact just a few ceiling fans so be prepared. My wife and I enjoyed our experience ordering a bowl of the won ton saimin and eating next... more

This place has counter seating served by a few overworked ladies. It serves the Hawaiian equivalent of Pho (asian noodle soup). It also serves grilled chicken and beef. The food is great - the value is tremendous! The Lilikoi Pie is the best that I have had on the islands. Strongly recommend if you like pho. more

Our guidebook made this sound like the greatest saimin in the world, but it was nothing special. Definitely local and super cheap, but extremely crowded and HOT in the restaurant. Wouldn't go back. more
