Pretty Interesting Place

It's a pretty interesting dining spot. Counter style seating and they don't hand out menus unless requested, they have a big central menu near the kitchen. we enjoyed lunch today at hamura saimin. we each had a bowl (one special, one shrimp and one regular) along with fried wontons and bbq skewers (one chicken, one beef). the service was very attentive, the food was delivered quickly and lunch was delicious! will definitely drop in again - and next time i'll add a shave ice to the... First of all, this is a "local grinz" kind of establishment. Don't expect to be waited on and shown to your seat with cloth napkins and fine silverware. If you want to mingle and feel like a local, you've found the right place. The Hamura Saimin Stand is located on Kress Street. It's just down the street from other popular... More

I always wanted to come here to try their Saimin Noodles. The restaurant is itself just a dive with an odd shape of white counters in the restaurant. Nothing fancy, no frills, you sit on low stools. I ordered the Special Saimin and the Crispy Fried Won Ton. The won ton was bland, but the saimin was very flavorful with... More

not trendy, not hipster-chic, and nothing fancy - just fantastic, flavorful saimin at a reasonable price. almost always bustling with activity, this place is a must stop when in Kauai!

A funky but cute place, and a must while on the island. Good food, but wouldn't recommend the meat skewers. The same ladies have been there for years and work very hard. The place is always busy and it's hot inside, so be prepared. The atmosphere alone is entertaining. :)

It is a little hole in the wall establishment, where the same ladies will handle you water, clean dished, buses the table, and handle you money without any gloves and hand washing in between. Very hot and hard to find seat, because everyone wants to be there. We've seen families and young local couple in a date. If you can... More

Yeah, this place turns out a great product for the price. Had the saimin special ($8) which was very tasty. Terri Chicken sticks ($2.50) were great. Great hostess and service. They cleaned tables between every customer. Can't say enough and can't wait to go back. Just wish there was more space because some have to stand and wait until others... More

We were here 8 years ago and it is one of the things we tell everyone they have to do if they come to Kauai. It's not fine dining...it's nothing special but the food is good and the atmosphere makes the experience. We had the Saimen Special and the Chicken kabobs...and their take-out business was BUSY!!!
