We came for the same reason as many others - location, location, location. I had never eaten at a Dukes before - and found it just average. Yes there is a salad bar - not all that amazing, unless you are an "all you can eat" fan. 3 types of rolls, 3 pasta salads, 2 muffins - carbs ruling the... More

If you have eaten at Duke's you know it has a great location and is capable of great food. Unfortunately it seems that the staff knows that as well, and they have decided to do the bare minimum. We have eaten at Duke's several times, mostly due to the proximity to Kalapaki Circle where we stay. But this last week,... More

Have been coming to the Garden Isle for a decade, and every visit we have to have at least two meals here! The buffet salad bar is top notch, but what stands out is the five kinds of FRESH fish prepared five different ways! My wife loves the Ono served macadamia nut crusted. I prefer the opah with the citrus... More

Overall good meal. Entree includes salad bar - great caesar salad. Ordered 16 oz prime rib 'texas style' (seared on grill). Not great - but decent (a bit small for $30 entree). Have to keep in mind you're in Hawaii where prices are high everywhere compared to stateside rates. Would go back to check out HH.

Right on the water in a cove. Open (covered) deck. Our condo owner recommended it, was very good, great atmosphere. Crazy parking experience (they have free valet).

Duke's is located on the grounds of the Marriott Hotel and we ate here because it was our first night in Kauai and we were tired and didn't want to get out and explore our dining options. Boy were we disappointed by this place. We have come to expect that the hotel restaurants in the resorts can be hit or... More

Having been to this restaurant once before and loving it we ended up eating here twice on this trip. This restaurant has a great view, service and atmosphere. The food including the ones ordered by the four kids was excellent. On one occasion with two of the kids meals coming out late the manager quickly comped us a Hula Pie... More

Duke's is a dining standby in Lihue, Kauai. It fronts on Kalapaki Beach and overlooks Nawiliwili Bay, and 50 yards from Marriott's Kauai Beach Villas. In the past, I feel I've been jinxed by disappointing entrees or aloof service, but that was not the case last month. Judy and I had a perfect dinner, focusing on fish. And what fish!... More

Ate at the barefoot bar, great view. Had the fresh catch of the day, was very good. You also have to try the Hula Pie. 1 piece should be good for a couple as it is huge. Had a long island iced tea...so so. Will likely go back again during our stay in Kauai.

This review is of the Barefoot Bar - downstairs. Tuesday is the day to stop by the Barefoot Bar's Happy Hour (4-6pm) and grab a cold one. ...or two. ...or four - if you're walking. Ice cold beer, $3 fish tacos and a million dollar view. Hard to beat. It's a popular place on Tuesday so your best bet is... More
