Always our first stop

First stop when we arrival on Kauai for lunch. A hole in the wall with excellent sushi and just good old fashion food. Highly recommend.

Large portions and a local hangout for dinner. Japanese food is main menu but something for everyone from fish, beef, chicken and noodles. Nice combo choices. Casual atmosphere

This restaurant was rather confusing for a first timer. Here I'm looking for Tip Top Cafe, no such sign. Walked in thru the front glass doors and to the right is the old fashioned weight scale, a rack with full of Polo Shirts and t-shirts for sale, two commercial refrig with sodas, and two trays of pastries, and one tray... Crab in the soft shell crab roll was tough and burnt, mostly rice though. Tempura was um.... Not tempura but looked and tasted more like the broken crumbles in the bottom of the fry basket. Did not try the sashimi so maybe that's where they shine?

I really enjoyed the chef that cooked our food in front of us. The show wasn't great but the chef was very friendly and skillful. The food tasted great especially the catch of the day mahi mahi. I would do this again and definitely try the sushi, this place is a local favorite place, with people lined up before it... More

The Tip Top Cafe becomes Sushi Katsu during the evening and provides a nice place to have a good variety of sushi, sashimi and other Japanese dishes. Not fancy but a good value

My wife and I were looking for something a little less touristy and read the reviews online for this place and thought we'd give it a try. That definitely wasn't the smartest thing we did on our trip. The look of the restaurant left something to be desired. It didn't look overly dirty but did look like a mix between... More

Got sushi rolls and all the rolls were painfully tasteless-lots of rice, no flavors. The place looks and feels like a cafeteria, but seems clean.

After reading the reviews, we decided to venture here to see how the food was. Definately a local place. We did have to wait a bit for a table, but nothing unexpected. The vegetable tempura was great - huge plate and plenty for the 5 of us. We ordered the mixed sashimi platter, and while overall the quality was good,... More
