This was the first time we had stopped at Tomkats and the food and service was average and reasonable but we will make this one of our stops on our next visit to Kauai/Poipu.
Stopped in for a meal while shopping Old Koloa Town. Enjoyed a great burger on the courtyard porch. Good food and prices, nice menu. Loved the atmosphere.
Great sandwiches and fabuloous ambience. A very relaxing place, down home Hawaii at it's best. Inexpesive for Hawaii, a getaway from the tourist bustle.
We were late hunting dinner in Poipu, and I remembered racing about TomKats in nearby Koloa Town. We wandered in about 9 pm or so, and ordered the Kalua Pig sandwich and a blackened Mahi mahi sandwich, which were both delicious. Prices were very reasonable for a resort town, too. This small restaurant and bar in central Koloa has a nice, open seating area overlooking a small garden. They were able to accommodate my wife's gluten-free request. I waited seven years to return for their grilled mahi mahi sandwich. Pet the housecat who begs for fish samples.
They have excellent $4 Happy Hour Mai Tais and $2 beers. This place is tucked back and surrounds a garden area. It is nicer than what you see from the street. Our pork nachos were a hit.
Food was good, prices were decent, place wasn't the cleanest. The waiter - older gentleman - was very attentive and friendly. The place had lost their liquor license, not sure what the deal was with that. Apparently they are getting it back "tomorrow".
Pleasantly surprised with the food and the service was great. Our family of five ordered fish & chip, fish tacos & a quesdilla and shared everything. We had plenty. The chips and salsa were fresh made and very good.
We went to lunch here our last day in Kauai. We walked in and were told their liquor license was "in transit" and they were not serving any alcohol. That said, the food was great and service was good. Had the mahi sandwich special, very good.
I recommend the fish sandwich. The service was good and the place was very clean. You could spend an hour in this little place going in & out of stores & eating lunch here.
