Better than I expected

First off, I'm a germaphobe. I avoid buffets as much as possible, with that being said they at least made an effort to sanitize it by putting hand sanitizer stations at the beginning of the line. The food was better than expected. The gardens look a little tired but still are very pretty. The... read more

We researched a number of luau options, and chose Smith family luau. Part of the reason was the cost. It was less expensive than some of the others. The shuttle tour around the gardens was relaxing, the gardens are beautiful. The Imu ceremony was interesting and informative. The food was delicious and there was so much to choose from. We... Entertaining, one hour show. We skipped the food and just did the show, which was fairly entertaining and offered a variety of different cultural dances.

Not really a Luau fan but I really enjoyed this one. The music is live. Drinks are good. Staff are friendly.

We skipped the dinner portion and reserved seats for just the show ($15 for adults and $7 for kids). We got there right as the gate opened and got very good seats (3 rd center). The show was very enjoyable. Kids (ages 9 and 13) loved the "fire guy". This was good value for the money. After the show, some... More

Make certain to check the schedule to avoid the huge cruise ship crowds. Well done performance, food is typical - go out to dinner first.

We had an enjoyable experience at Smiths. If you want to attend a traditional luau with all the fixings and quality entertainment, this is the place. First is a lei greeting, a tour of the beautiful gardens in Wailua, demonstrations of cooking the pig underground, an open bar with a very good buffet. Nice selection and an orderly processing of... We went here with YMT Vacations! The gardens are stunning and the trolley ride around the property is wonderful . The dinner is well organized and the food is plentiful and very tasty. The IMU was wonderful to see and taste, with many other luaus you don't actually get to taste the pig cooked in the IMU. It would have... More

Definitely a must! The food is amazing, more than you eat with a open bar. My favorite was the sesame teriyaki beef along with the pulled pork of course. And the show and history was beautiful, my only complaint would have to be that the theater seating was terribly uncomfortable, so maybe bring yourself a cushion.

We were staying at the Waipouli Beach Resort in Kapa'a on Kauai. We were celebrating our son's final Spring Break before he graduates from West Point. My wife, eight year old daughter and 22 heal old son wanted to do a Luau while there. I spoke with people and Googled kauai Luaus and the Smith Family Garden seemed to be... More
