This is a busy place. Make your reservation early. Big place too, but not enough parking. You can get a seat to have your food cooked in front of you, this is fun. I would go for the seafood on that or share, as the meat only is a bit heavy. Good sushi. Sake was not a god one.

The quality of the sushi was terrible. We were unable to eat it. At least the waiter gave us our money back.

This restaurant is usually highly rated in all the reviews and guidebooks we've seen. We're were surprised at the relatively large seating capacity after stepping into the busy restaurant. There seemed to be a lot of locals here. The hostess was not overly friendly, but we just sat in the large lounge area while waiting for our table (best to... More

Restaurant Kintaro, 4370 Kuhio Hwy., Kapaa, HI 96746, tel. 808-822-3341. This was a very good restaurant with very good service. We ordered too much and had enough to take home for another entire meal. We were each brought a small plate with pickled cabbage and turnip—we liked it! We ordered one Sukiyaki Dinner ($19.95) and one Nabeyaki noodles ($11.95). The... More

You can sushi or Japanese style grilled me. The sushi Is very freas and very good. Locals say it is the best on the island, The Japanese food is prepared in front of you and is tasty however the portions could be larger. The desserts are only fair. The locals love this place so make a reservation. There is also... More

After living on Kauai for 25 years this is still my favorite restaurant. Always fresh fish, soft shell crab hand roll better than anywhere, and low price hot pots.

This is not Roy's Hawaiian, thank goodness. The decor is certainly not pretentious. The service is pleasant and the sushi is basic and very good. If you are looking for chi-chi sushi find a Roy's. Kintaro is basic but fresh fish and well worth a visit.

I stayed close to this restaurant and the parking was always full (IN LOW SEASON). Important to make reservations. Me and wife walked in not knowing this and had to wait 10-15 minutes. While we waited, a server offered us drinks in a waiting area. We settled up there then went to our table for food. The sushi was great,... More

I had their dinner "C". Great combination of sushi and tempura. decently attentive service, okay atmosphere. Seated promptly with reservations. Can't wait for the next trip back to give it another try.
