I was hoping for some delicious sushi while in Hawaii, and based on the recommendations of a local we went here. I was disappointed. My tuna was off color and tasted off. We did try a new roll; the rock and roll and that was good, but 1 out of 4 rolls being good is not great odds. Service was... More

Best calamari that I have ever had. The California and Spicy Tuna were very good. Generous portions at a very reasonable price. Several of the locals recommended it to us.

Many good restaurants on Kauai, but few great ones. IMHO, this one is the best. The food is wonderful and the prices, unlike most on this island, are really reasonable. Just returned from Kauai, and this was easily the best meal we had on this trip. Be sure to make a reservation if you want the food cooked at your... More

I had a dinner there for my birthday. We were on time for our reservation (early) and seated late. Waiting is under bright fish aquarium lighting. I have never had such a condescending rude waiter EVER. Well we will get to that. My friends may still write a review but will focus on my meal. I asked for a bar... More

I am a Japanese food fan and I have been told that Hawaii is the best place, after Japan. Well it must be true but not here. The staff is friendly and even without reservation we waited just 10'. We got a nice table and got served really quickly. I had the gyoza and sushi menu. The first was really... More

This is a busy place. Make your reservation early. Big place too, but not enough parking. You can get a seat to have your food cooked in front of you, this is fun. I would go for the seafood on that or share, as the meat only is a bit heavy. Good sushi. Sake was not a god one.

The quality of the sushi was terrible. We were unable to eat it. At least the waiter gave us our money back.

This restaurant is usually highly rated in all the reviews and guidebooks we've seen. We're were surprised at the relatively large seating capacity after stepping into the busy restaurant. There seemed to be a lot of locals here. The hostess was not overly friendly, but we just sat in the large lounge area while waiting for our table (best to... More

Restaurant Kintaro, 4370 Kuhio Hwy., Kapaa, HI 96746, tel. 808-822-3341. This was a very good restaurant with very good service. We ordered too much and had enough to take home for another entire meal. We were each brought a small plate with pickled cabbage and turnip—we liked it! We ordered one Sukiyaki Dinner ($19.95) and one Nabeyaki noodles ($11.95). The... More

Great Japanese food here on Kauai. Popular place and great selection of food. Enjoy a sake with your sushi!
