Local sushi spot

Make a reservation. There were a lot of locals here having birthday parties & celebrations. The sushi was great and reasonably priced. Had the most delicious chocolate macadamia nut mud pie for dessert.

Call ahead to get a seat !!! This place is packed and for a very good reason the food is outstanding !!! Found out about this place through locals and its a family type place. We got there around 8pm and there were no seats !! Only 4 at the sushi bar so we took them and I am glad... More

I'm not sure if this was an attempt at Japanese Hawaii fusion. If it was it failed. The fried rice had bacon in it. Ugh, if it has been spam I would have at least laughed. The teriyaki style shrimp should have been called lemon shrimp. The sushi was nasty. The beef bowl my husband got was gristle. The Pepsi... More

This restaurant was absolutely JAMMED with locals when we went. The service was good, and the food was good, but not the BEST sushi I've ever had. They do serve some delicious appetizers and palate cleansers though. According to the guidebooks teppanyaki is where it's at here - but it didn't seem like that's what people were eating. The rolls... More

The food was good and we had a good time. The highlight was to watch all the locals greeting each other and it gave us a glimpse of their community. As a tourist, it is often nice to get a sense of the local life and Kintaro was just that.

Ate here on December 18 on a Friday night and it was loud and crazy. Seemed like a lot of small Christmas parties were going on which may explain the rowdy atmosphere. It took about 20 mins to get seated at this large restaurant. The service was good and friendly in spite of the crowd. There seemed to be mostly... More

This restaurant was recommended by a friend who had lived on the island. It did not disappoint. The food was very good. The service was good. It lacked a good child's menu but that didn't stop our kids from enjoying an entrée. There is more of a local feeling at this restaurant. We enjoyed it.

This is the second Christmas party at Kintaro's that I have attended. I was a little nervous, as all raw fish to me is squishy (?) and I do not like. However. I was able to have a great dinner just the same. I started off with the sauteed mushrooms and skewered vegetables for appetizers, then finished with Salmon in... More

This is an extraordinarily good, fairly priced, local spot. They served up some lovely complimentary fried wontons as a starter. We stuck with sushi and maki. All of the rolls we tried - king crab, shrimp tempura, Hanalei and spicy tuna hand roll were beyond reproach. The hamachi sushi was as good as good be. Terrific service and a very... More
