We are part time Kapaa residents and live within walking distance of Kintaro. This must be the busiest restaurant in Kauai. There is a wide choice of foods, from sushi, to teppan to tempura dishes. We are part time Kapaa residents and live within walking distance of Kintaro. This must be the busiest restaurant in Kauai. There is a wide choice of foods, from sushi, to teppan to tempura dishes. All are very good and the portions are large. The people who work there are very nice and experienced. Kintaro has a large local clientele... More

Sorry for the headline, should have reviewed our breakfast before writing this review. Asahi and Saporro beer was just right! Sounds like a story from the three bears. My wife and I had a skewer of terriaki beef, best ever sauce and tender beef. We are not sushi experts, but we enjoyed it. Loved the ginger and the wasabi. My... More

Plan ahead and go as early as you can. Usually very busy. You can eat at the bar if small party. Great service, consistently excellent food year after year.

The parking lot is always packed and there is always a wait time if you don't go early or very late. Once you eat here you will know why. The sushi is fresh...some of the best we have ever had. The restaurant is small but packs a lot of personality and charm. The workers make sure everything is right from... More

We love the Teppan Yaki at Kintaro. You must make a reservation, as this place is busy. The food is very well prepared and you will get plenty to eat. Prices are reasonable for Hawaii. As a tip, order the fried rice for an extra $5.00 instead of the white rice, it is well worth it.

We ate at Kintaro's a couple of time last year. We decided to try it again this year and we were not disappointed. The service was fast. The food was fresh and tasty. We were served more than we could eat!

Started at bar with Jason the bartender. Nice young man who talks very fast and has worked at Kintaro for 10 years, good cocktails. Then proceeded to table with waiter Michael and busboy Hana. Really great waitstaff! We ordered a fish appetizer, very good and then filets and shrimp which were served with soup or salad. One of the best... More

This restaurant was recommended in Fodor's Hawaii guidebook and it didn't disappoint. In fact, we went there twice in one week. If it's busy (as usual) and no table is available, you can sit at the bar and receive very quick service. Be sure to try the seared ahi poke! The green tea ice cream pie was also very good,... More

Got seated right away because we got their right when it opened. The ginger had an awesome flavor! Sushi was pretty good. We tried four different rolls. Tasted fresh and the place was packed by the time we left!
