Great Plate Lunch

If you're on the north end of Kapa'a, this is a great little spot for plate lunch or sushi rolls. Looks like a convenience store, but the food's great!

This little hole-in-the-wall deserves all the praise it gets and then some. Offering the best lunch of rice bowl with your choice of poke, the Pono Market feeds the hungry of Kauai every day and it could not be improved upon, one of the things I really miss when I am not on Kauai and one of the first places... Best plate lunch we found on the island and we tried several. Like other counters they have certain items based on the day of the week. Ordering is simple with a little orientation. When standing in line, facing the counter, up on your left hand side, posted to a pillar, is the list of plates, options and costs. There is... More

Good local food however choice was limited and service was less than fantastic. Be prepared to order quickly and flexibly as your first choice may not be available. There are better plate lunch spots on kauai.

This is a little take out place that has amazing food at great prices. This ended up being one of our favorite meals the entire trip. Not much to look at, but grab your order to go and head out to the beach for a very good meal.

This place is unassuming and appeared to be a favorite of locals. Best poke i have ever had. Try the spicy ahi. Friendly staff as well. A must try.

Got a plate lunch and beer to go (you can't drink on-site). Lots of locals and they know the ropes so it was hard to figure out the (tiny) menu and how to order. But once we figured it out, got back to the room and yum! Ono food.

Tiny pastries that look like dumplings are delightful. Locals are very kind. They even have an official on site to issue marriage licenses. Odd combination, but perfectly convenient if you are having a destination wedding and dint want to drive to the city.

Amazing lunch, delicious poke bowls, super inexpensive! Pono Market looks like a hole in the wall, but it's fantastic food for an unbeatable price. My kids, who do NOT eat raw fish, scarfed the sesame ahi and the shoyu ahi pokes like they were candy, and I almost stabbed my husband with my fork when he tried to take the... More

You can buy poke at Safeway, but why would you? Pono is the real deal for a Hawaiian lunch. We had poke rice bowl, excellent! Tried spicy and sesame ahi. Sesame was good, but the spicy kicked. Will be back!
