we used to eat here once a week. not any more. new owners need to tend to their new purchase and rethink their management. kitchen staff were out front a lot and using the main phone to call buddies who turned up in trucks and then the kitchen staff came out again to hang out....in the street They put some... I've eaten at the Eastside several times and never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful. The fresh fish is always a good bet- moist and delicious and prepared in innovative ways. The drinks are also delicious and the wait staff is happy to suggest something if you're undecided. It's centrally located in... More

The music drew us to the Eastside our first night in Kapaa. The restaurant was full, but the owner made room for us next to the musicians. The menu is small which we took to be a good sign....a few things done well. The staff, especially the owner, were attentive and engaging, the music was lively and the food was... More

Re-visited an old favorite recently and found many changes due to an ownership change. The menu has been shrunk, the wine list is down to about 8 choices etc. None of that was terribly important but the quality of what came out of the kitchen was appalling in a couple of cases. Salads had wilted brown pieces. Some of the... More

This casual little restaurant was recommended by locals. It was one of the best meals I have ever had! First a generous bowl of edamame was placed before use drizzled with chili oil. Yum! We both ordered the Ono fish and chips. Perfectly cooked and yum! Then homemade purple potato chips, yum! Topped off with a tangerine martini. It was... More

Beautiful salad. Watermelon, oranges and goat cheese. Very fresh and flavorful. Amazing rib eye. Perfectly cooked and lovely sauce. A little more attention to decor, and they will have a home run.

The mai tais were fabulous and rather than the old bread/butter you get wonderful infused edemame. Both our meals were fantastic. The rib eye rivals any steakhouse in Vegas. The new owner came out and talked with us about our meals and his chef also spoke with us. The service from Kayla was top notch. We will definitely return here!

The Eastside, now under new ownership, and it's new name :The Eastside Cafe, is, by far, the best restaurant we found in the Kapa'a / Lihue area. We were so pleased with our first dinner there that we came back every night of our last 3 days on the island! Parking is easy behind the building, the place is welcoming,... More

We were driving through Kapaa around 9 PM and hoping to find a restaurant that was still open. The Eastside looked lively and it was still serving. The chef happened to be by the front door and greeted us and proudly explained the specials that he had prepared. The Ahi Tuna dinner sounded heavenly and was delicious. The service was... More

Let me start by saying that we were spoiled by Chicken in a Barrel for lunch that day, and because of that experience, we found dinner... lacking. The new owners have changed the menu, as evidenced by looking at the old menu posted on urbanspoon.com. We called ahead since we weren't sure how busy it would be. The guy who... More
