On our way to Hawaii, we stopped in Las Vegas, and one of our waiters there said that he had lived on Kauai for several years. He recommended Monicos and Bar Acuda. On his advice, we tried lunch at Monico's on our 2nd day on the island. The food was very good and delivered promptly. We sat outdoors at a... More

We wish that we had discovered this restaurant sooner, as we ate there on our last full day on Kauai. It was our favorite restaurant on Kauai because of the quality of the food. My wife had the Enchiladas Verde (chicken), which was $12.95 on the menu. She raved about how good it was with the tomatillo sauce. She also... More

Took quite awhile to seat a party of five because the restaurant is not that large, but the staff was polite an attentive as we waited. Once seated, food did take awhile as many have said before me, but there is a reason. The kitchen, when our party was there, was ably manned by just a couple of very hard... More

Overall, the place was good. The food was tasty and decor was good mix of hawaiian and mexican. The bar was stocked with all kinds of mexican beers and margaritas were flowing. The food was tasty. We had vegetarian burritos, fish (ahi, scallop, shrimp) tacos, keiki quesadillas and keiki tacos. We also ordered the guacamole which was just average. Parking... More

We went to dinner here on a Friday night when it was very busy. It's one thing to have to wait for your food because the place is busy. You can expect that. Its another thing to have to pay extra to get more than 2 tortillas with your fajitas or for more chips and salsa. And then the food... More

We listened to other TAs and decided to seek this spot out. The restaurant is loud and fun- great for kids. They took a reservation for 6 which was great and everyone enjoyed their meal. Verde sauce is very good and the carnitas are phenomenal! Ole!

Our flight got in late, so by the time we went looking for food, everything was closed, including Monica's. But they took pity on us, and opened the kitchen for 4 hungry travelers while the staff had their dinner too! Food was surprisingly good (try the guacamole!) and the portions were huge (she warned us!). Great place to stop and... More

Wife and I blew by this place on the way into town from the Airport. Do not judge a book by its cover. The service was great and the employees very friendly. Food was really good but quality does take time and I'd gladly wait all over again. Prices very reasonable as the portions are large and we could not... More

People seem to think that just because you're in paradise that you shouldn't want Mexican food?? People in China want burgers... We would recommend this place and will return for yummy food. We had the ahi fish tacos, seafood burrito, chicken taquitos & ahi flautas...portions were fulfilling & fresh. If you like hot & spicy, the habanero salsa was a... More

Have lived on Kauai 38 yr but never had better scallops or shrimp than in their seafood burrito. May need a doggie bag to bring some home because its Large! A bit hard to find. Take an outdoor table if possible. Gets a bit noisy inside. Good margaritas.
