The breakfast at Kalypso is worth the drive no matter where you are staying on the island. I had the bananas foster pancakes and they were excellent. Another person in our party had the peaches and cream stuffed french toast and it was also excellent. Seating is limited and you may have to wait a bit but it's worth it!... More

With not much open at breakfast in this area we chose this place. I had the loco moco and my husband had an omelette. His was better than mine. The burger had a really strong charred taste but was edible. Service was fine and so was the atmosphere.

Be prepared to take some of your food home if you're not sharing with someone else. Don't go there on a game day if you want to "visit" with friends. It's LOUD and BOISTEROUS and FUN for those there.

Fun atmosphere. Great little place for drinks and lunch. Sarah the bartender is super nice. If you want laid back island style this is the place and well worth a drive if staying in Poipu like we are.

Expensive for what you get, boring and not good, but probably what you would expect price wise in Hanalei during peak season

Huge portions and is a nice casual place to take the kids. Very popular spot for game watching too. Check out their daily happy hour specials too.

Liked the menu, liked the bar, like the food, like dining on the balcony. The service was good and the drinks great.

Nice enough people but indifferent service and inconsistent cocktails. It is a convenient location, but nothing else to really sell it. Oh wait, I heard they have the coldest beer in the area, so maybe that is a selling point.

The Kalypso Island Bar and Grill was another fun place for lunch we discovered on Kauai. Their menu is similar to other places we ate lunch, but the burgers, fish tacos, and sandwiches we all ordered were very good. The service was very good and the prices were typical of Kauai.

The taro burger was kind of scary looking, but with the chipotle sauce it turned out to be fine and very filling. I felt like onion rings and I am so glad i ordered them. WOW. Maybe it was the batter, or maybe a special onion, but they were so good I wished I had gotten two orders. No kidding.... More
