Good lunch spot! I had the fish tacos, very good. My husband had the spicy BBQ burger and waffle fries, which was also a great choice.

We sat outside and viewed the mountains and picturesque little Hanelai and it's cute shops. This a local as well as a nice tourist stop for lunch or dinner. Wednesday is happy hour all day. I had Mahi Mahi topped with 3 tiger shrimp in a wine sauce. Very good and hubby had Mahi Mahi in a cilantro sauce which... More

We went into Kalypso for drinks and a snack. We have no complaints about the drinks, the Mai Tai was excellent. We did however, order a happy hour item which included fried artichoke hears, calamari, and coconut shrimp. It was BAD. Super greasy! I know it is fried food, but it was bad fried food. Other items coming out of... More

We tried Kalypso on our last trip to Kauai and were disappointed but we thought we'd try it again this trip giving it the benefit of the doubt. I enjoy Koloa rum and was told by the bartender at Dolphin that they carried it so we stopped by after the beach for a Mai Tai. It was clearly not a... More

We were looking for a casual, open air local place and "This is it!" The serving staff is friendly and service conscious. We have had Brittany twice and enjoyed her as our waitress, very much! They have a full bar with reasonable prices and a good beach fare type of menu (burgers, fish, salads tapas, etc.).

We were exploring the North Shore and stopped in here for a late afternoon lunch. We were surprised that it was still crowded, but tables were beginning to open up. They have some outdoor seating which looked like a great place to catch the breezes. However, those were still occupied and so we sat inside but by the back door.... More

Kalypso (5-5156 Kuhio Hwy G4, Hanalei, HI 96714, (808) 826-9700, www.kalypsokauai.com). Our server, Wyatt S, was inattentive and plain poor. We had the Staker poke ($15.95) and the ratatouille pasta ($16.95) as well as a side order of garlic bread for $3.95 (which we didn’t need because the pasta came with 2 slices of garlic bread). The portions were large... More

Typical bar food. We sat on the patio and the service was lackluster. Took awhile to get water, and our server never checked in on us after we got our food.

Fun, open air dining, great for happy hour! Plenty of tv's for sports, had the nachos for dinner twice!
