There is still a Java Kai in Kapaa but the one in Hanalei is now called Hanalei Coffee Roasters. I'm not sure if it's under new management or if it's a completely different coffee shop. In either case the old one was good and the new one is too so it's worth a stop.

Loved this coffee shop. The menu for breakfast is the most extensive of any of the coffee shops we visited. They also serve lunch. These people are serious about their coffee and the shop is full of both locals and tourists. A must try in Kapaa!

The waffle was DELICIOUS! ordered the mango banana one topped with coconut syrup...literally to die for! It was very warm already that morning so instead of hot coffee we had iced, which I don't ever order, much to my surprise it was an enjoyable morning beverage and something I am craving as a result. The shop has a super cool... More

This is a must visit on your trip to Kauai. Tucked away in Kapa'a, they have the best coffee, pastries and lunch we had on the Island. We found them with 3 days left and visited every day. Drink coffee or die!

This coffee shop couldn't have been more "Portlandia" unless they had liquor to put in the coffee. Just like a quick trip home for quality coffee and a pleasant crowd of suntanned hipsters. Great coffee, great service, comfy atmosphere.

There was no comparison between here and Java Kai in Kapaa. This is now Hanalei Coffee Roasters, not Java Kai. Java Kai in Kapaa has much better options for food, and the coffee was much better. Drive to Java Kai in Kapaa!

My husband and I were on Kauai for 10 days, staying in Kapaa and found this gem on our first day... And were there at least once a day for the remainder of our stay! The coffee is superb (roasted on-site!), food fresh, healthy and local. Creative combinations of ingredients that to us speak "Hawaii" are highlights of our trip... More

We were getting ready for a photo tour and decided to stop in for a coffee. I can't exactly remember what was in this coffee drink but omg was it good. Enjoy this place for what it is, a local stop and not the Starbucks around the corner.
