This hole in the wall has the best desserts in Hanalei. Score a piece of haupia pie, apple cobbler or the enormous and aptly named 'world's best cookie' and you will be so happy and dreaming of the next time you can have it again. Great value and friendly service at this local favorite. Unfortunately only open until 4 during... More

Experience Hanalei as it was in 1979, gastronomically speaking!

Service was friendly. The inside is kind of dirty and zero atmosphere so we took our lunch outside to a picnic table and ate with the chickens. Huge plate lunch. Had Kalua pork (delicious), chicken with string noodles (interesting), small portion of lomi lomi salmon (fishy - not good fishy but off fishy), rice and salad. The best part was... More

I got chili pepper chicken thinking it was a stirfry dish. It is fried chicken with a gyoza sauce with chinese hot peppers. Very good as was the rice and salad that came with it. But we got stink eye from the young cashier girl. If you dont want tourists coming into your shop, just freekin put a sign up... More

As recommended in "The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook," the apple cobbler is fantastic (but now up to $3 each). The other pastries look great, especially the carrot cake.

The recomended chili chicken was very good. The teri beef was terrible. Rice was clumpy and needed lots of soy. Onion rings over cooked. Order at the counter from an indifferent unfriendly cashier. My bad for leaving a tip in jar. Cash only. Doubt we will go back.

The Village Snack Shop & Bakery, located in Hanalei at the Ching Young Village Shopping Center is a must stop, at least once during your stay. The North Shore has many venues for upscale dining but few opportunities to dine with working locals who are not necessarily chillin" in paradise. A breakfast and lunch venue, the snack shack is open... More

We came here for breakfast. I don't think we fully took advantage of this place, as the specialties seem to be of the lunch/dinner variety. This is a little hole in the wall in the inside of a shopping center in Hanalei. The service is your usual diner-greasy spoon-prickly. You order at the counter and are called when your food... More
