If you are on the North Shore check out the Village Snack Bar & Bake Shop -- pass through the Ching Young Village gate and it is about 20 paces to the right. Don't be put off by the exterior appearance -- there may not be extensive shopping at Ching Young, but the Snack Bar & Bakery is definitely worth... More

Good little breakfast and lunch place with indoor/outdoor seating, not fancy. The hit for me was their deep fried Pepper Chicken, it was so juicy. The sauce on the chicken was oh so tasty. They offer island macaroni and rice with this plate lunch as well!

Had breakfast with friends. Each couple ordered at same time. There was at least 20 minutes for the 2nd couple's meal to come out. Seemed like other customers who ordered after us, got their food before us. Eggs, pancakes and BLT were all good. Could have given 4 stars if the service was better. Will go back.

Oh, that chili pepper chicken! Reminded me of kung pao chicken without the peanuts! So spicy and delicious and drooling into the rice - very tasty. My husband had a barbeque burger, nicely cooked and seasoned. We got this twice for lunch and would have again if we stayed longer. They also sell very nice Kauai beef in the store,... More

It was a little past 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and the place was closing. We entered the shop and ordered food. We realy did not know that they were closing. The lady behind the counter took our order, then told us that they really were closed for the day. She was kind enough to take our order with a... More

I have been going to this place for over 20 years. For a sweet treat it is the place to go. Brownies, coconut cake, and a quick breakfast. Local flavor- very polite staff. You will get a sense of what is happening in the community and the gossip by hanging around.

Loved the plate lunches and pies, wow. Chile pepper fried chicken was crispy and spiced up with "Chile Pepper Water" sauce, a true Hawaiian recipe. We took some chocolate haupia pie and coconut cream pie home for a late afternoon tea snack and it was delish!

If you want real Hawaiian local food this is the place to go. We always head here after church on Sunday morning, they have great mixed plate, yummy cookies and Haupia and pies. A true local gem!

You'll know what I mean if you know what musubi is. Get there early. Part of the fun is talking with the ladies behind the counter. Hawaii's version of a South Philly bakery. One of our favorite spots.
