We had a wonderful dinner, our server was very detailed in the description of some of the menu items we asked about. Their cocktails are some of the best we had during our trip. Unfortunately it's incredibly busy and very loud. It's difficult to hear those seated near you. We enjoyed two cocktails, two appetizers and a shared dinner along... More

We dined here on a weekday during a recent visit to Kona. This was our second time going to a Roy's restaurant. Previously we found the atmosphere very loud but decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately the noise level was an issue here as well. It was impossible to have a conversation. The food was tasty but the noise... More

I wouldn't go back. At the price point it is at I expected both better food and better service. Merriman's is significantly better.

We have been to the Poipu Roy's in Kauai several times and enjoyed it so on our first trip to the Big Island we booked Roy's for our last night. The restaurant was just a couple blocks away from the Marriott, where we were staying. It is located in The Kings upscale sopping mall beside a little lake. It does... More

I dinned here with my family and we were expecting a lovely meal based up the number of apparently happy dinners we saw at the restaurant. What we received was poor service and terrible food. Firstly, we were shocked by the prices, You need to have the funding of the Rocker fellers to be able to afford to eat a... More

We had the wining pairing dinner to celebrate a birthday. Wine and food were both excellent and generous servings. I had the fish which melted in your mouth and my husband had the short ribs, so generous we took some home of each. Dessert was fabulous - chocolate lava cake with ice cream. Dining was casual but left feeling very... More

We went to Roy's based on the reviews on Tripadvisor and Yelp. We were somewhat underwhelmed. The setting is lovely and the food is adequate. The view is - yet again, another phenomenal one. The food didn't blow us away; we were looking for something that would evoke authentic Hawaiiana. We had more authentic Hawaiian food at Da Grindz in... More

I think Roy needs to revisit his restaurants. Our food was pretty bad. The appetizers had no finesse, just a bunch of deep-fried crap covered in goopy sauces. Two mains were okay but my mahi mahi was way, way over cooked and covered in salt. Such a shame, as service was as flawless as we've had in a long time.... More

In Waikoloa, Roy's is a big, bustling lakeside restaurant. Intimate conversations will be tricky..but the food is always good. The set menu is very good and you'll have great cocktails and drinks. I heartily recommend the mahi mahi and round iit off with the chocolate souffle. Leave the calorie count till later. It's a little bit expensive, but well worth... More

Went to the Roy's on a Oahu two years ago when we were in Hawaii and decided to go back while visiting the Big Island. Found food selections and service excellent. I had the macadamia encrusted my he my he and my wife had a gluten free version. They were both tasty. For dessert my wife said the chocolate flourless... More
