Not too bad

Comparing this to the Roy's at Waikiki, we were surprised how limited the menu was. It appears to have about half the choice that you get in the Waikiki outlet. Not sure why that would be. The food and service was fine, nothing outstanding, but a nice change from the resort restaurants.

Super service, amazing food! We had the filet mignion and the chard broiled rips along with fingerling potatos. So good! Even the best steak house in NY is not doing it any better. Desert: soufflé was very good - although the inside not liquid. Wine pairing with the prefix was great.

If you've ever been to a Roy's then this one will probably feel quite familiar ~ standard for the brand. Nice food ~ fairly high prices ~ coffee shop atmosphere. Good, but not great. We always seem to end up here on the day we arrive in West Hawaii because it's reliable for good quick food without disappointments. Highly recommend... More

We sat at the bar, shared several small plates, tried the cocktail du jour (but no umbrellas!) and generally had a wonderful time, as always. You will enjoy the food, the place, and the service.

I was really looking forward to eating at the Original Roy's, having been to some of the franchised versions (all of which were very good). I came here for the local, fresh, unique Hawaiian seafood cuisine that Roy's has always been known for. Everything I had was very good, but nothing stood out which was disappointment - keep in mind... More

We are at so many great restaurants in Hawaii, particularly in Maui, and those reviews are coming soon. Roy's was solid, the poke was good and the shrimp and scallops dishes were both fine. But the restaurant cannot compete with smaller Pan-Asian focused restaurants, my view is that Roy's has failed to evolve, and evolution is key to kitchen success.... More

We were there about five years ago and the food was top notch. This past September was a let down. Food, service, and atmosphere have diminished since then, but not the prices.

Upon seating us at a beat up table with no table cloth we looked down to see a carpet that was filthy and worn out. Food quality was mediocre with the rib appetizers being more chewy than I would normally feed my Yorkie. Presentation was also poor with most o the entrees looking like they had been dumped on the... My family and I visited Roy's based on its famed past, and while the signature Asian-fusion fare was as advertised, it seemed tired and a bit passé. This isn't to say the food wasn't well prepared, and served in lovely surroundings (overlooking the Waikoloa lake front), it's just that the meal seemed somehow stuck in the 1990s, with far too... We had a small sampler for a starter and then a 5 Hawaiian fish sampler order that we shared and it was plenty for two. The waiter was helpful in suggesting the 5 fish sampler as we could not decide from the many items on the menu.
