Great Fish & Chips

Catch of the day was Ono, very good. What we liked was the light battering which made for meaty & tasty pieces that actually tasted like fish. Reasonable prices for island fare. Give them a try.

There is this little hole in the wall (literally) on the back side of King's Shops in Waikaloa called "Island fish and chips". The fish is the "catch of the day" - whatever fresh fish the fishermen in the area caught. One day it was Wahoo, another Mahi, another Ono. All was deliciously prepared deep fried in a light batter.... More

This place is in the King's Shops, behind the main concourse with view of the lake. You order from a window and there is nice seating (open & covered) on the lake. There is no indoor seating, but its Hawaii!! The fish dishes are well prepared and there is a good variety of menu items. Serving sizes are also good,... More

This is a walk up, buy from the window, but the food is pretty good. And there is a decent variety of choices.

I've purchased fish meals from this place for years now. It's good...nothing out of the ordinary, but if you want something relatively quickly and not terribly expensive (as opposed to other offerings in the area), this is a fine place to go. This year instead of the fish in a basket meal I purchased the sandwich and liked the fish... More

It is what it is. After overpaying during your vacation at every hotel and restaurant you go to this is a refreshing option. Cost is appropriate, and there are no surprises with quality of food. They only do a few things, but they do them well. I for one appreciate that they cook each order as the order comes through.... More

Ono fish and chips is excellent, be patient as this place is busy, but worth the wait. Located on the back side of Kings Shops by the lake/lagoon. Don't miss it

Ordered fish and chips and shrimp. Waited for 55 minutes for order to be prepared. The cook prepares one order at a time. The food was ordinary, the shrimp were small. The price was high. It is basically a take out, "fast food" eatery. This take out would not survive outside a tourist area where customers are willing to be... More

Sort of like an outdoor food court place - don't be fooled by the look. Breakfast plate of two fried eggs, bacon and hash browns was cooked perfectly and coffee hot and soda cold. Sat under a gazebo watching koi fish and listening to Hawaiian music with a golf course across the lake. Lovely breeze and relaxing. Behind the shops... More

We ate here yesterday and both my husband and I had the fish and chips which turned out to be the freshest mahi mahi ever. The fish had a nice crispy batter which was not at all greasy or heavy, great shoestring type fries and the coleslaw was delicious with a Hawaiian extra which was crushed pineapple. This was probably... More
