Description: Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

There aren't many restaurants to choose from in Volcano, particularly if you're looking for something with a wine list with multiple choices in varietal categories... so the Kilauea Lodge was a pleasant surprise. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food is definitely more upscale than you will find at most other local options. The homemade soups are delicious... More

I'm flabbergasted that this restaurant has the reputation it does. Sure, it's one of the only spots in Volcano to eat a sit-down meal. However, even considering the remote location (which, at only about 45 minutes out of the city of Hilo with its farmer's markets and major chain grocery stores, isn't that inaccessible), the meal I had there was... We were recommended to have dinner here and were not disappointed. The service was great and food was delicious and good size portions. You won't leave hungry. It's close to the Jaggar museum, so great place to eat dinner and then see the volcano at night time.

We ate here three times, twice for breakfast and once for dinner. All were excellent. The dinner was superb. My husband had the Ahi and I had a steak and both were cooked to perfection. Salads made with local vegies and all sides accompanying the entree were expertly prepared. Service was great and the atmosphere was very cozy, old style... More

The Lodge is a good bet for a very nice meal, friendly and good service. I particularly like to go there for breakfast.

Great service and excellent menu with lots of choices that made it difficult to choose just one. Everything was delicious!

Too bad the food doesn't live up to the beauty of the old lodge. Nothing we tried was very good. Except the (bottled) local Hawaiian beer.

We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at this restaurant. They treated our celiac family member very well, with gluten-free bread, and several GF dish choices. They even had 2 or 3 GF desserts. Their GF chocolate cake was delicious.

My wife and I had a thoroughly delightful dinner with our newly married daughter and son-in-law at the restaurant. Service was excellent. The server was friendly, attentive without hovering and helpful in making choices. The food was very good. My wife and I went back several days later for breakfast and again the service was superb. The food was again... More

We came from Minneapolis to Hawaii, and it truly felt like we were back in northern Wisconsin at this place. "Lodge" is an accurate description of the place, and I fully expected to see deer heads mounted on the walls. The food was OK, but pricy. On a dark, rainy night after a long drive from Kona, this was the... More
