Great food and art gallery a bonus

Great cafe with great food and nice atmosphere. Small art gallery attached to browse while food is being prepared. There are not too many places to eat in Volcano but this is definitely a must stop.

We stumbled upon this place and the sign said #1 on Trip Advisor, so we stopped. I'm not sure when it changed because as of the writing of this review, they are now #2. There's not a lot of restaurant choices in this area and at first we thought we took a wrong turn and were walking into someone's house.... More

Ono is a famous artist in Volcano. See his artworks at the cafe. Recently the cafe and botanical grounds upon which it is situated was for sale for around 1 million dollars.

This is a great place to have lunch. It has an art gallery that is lovely. They have the best selection of tea. All of the food was fresh. They make homemade soups too. You can book an area outside to have a large group under a canopy.

This is a must do for parties with vegetarians or those with gluten allergies. Some interesting dishes. Browse the nearby art shop for some one of a kind souvenirs too.

We were visiting the volcano area and noted Cae Ono was popular with Trip Advisor so we found it. It's very different in a good way, very green. We had the miso soup and salad and it was a great relief from so much of the processed food in Hawaii. The staff were really friendly as was the guy who... More

So glad I stumbled onto this place while poking around Volcano. Delicious, healthy, vegetarian food in a lovely garden setting. Great folks running the place. Galleries of local art surround the grounds. It's a lovely little paradise within paradise. I intend to find my way back here at some point. Maybe even rent out the cottage that's on the property.

Surprisingly there is very little choice for food in the Volcano area, even groceries seem to be very limited. If you are staying in Volcano you might choose to bring food from outside to prepare at your accomodation. Cafe Ono is set among the strip of other restaurants not far from the entrance to the National Park itself, but you... More

What a delightful, relaxing break from hiking in Volcanoes National Park! Ira Ono is the ultimate host, making you feel like an old friend whether you come for lunch or to shop in his Volcano Garden Arts gallery in the same quirky historic house. Menu was so varied and interesting that even non-vegetarians among us were pleased. This was our... More

We enjoyed a very nice lunch at Cafe Ono. One of us (a lasagna fan) had the lasagna and the other of us had the avocado sandwich; both came with a big salad of fresh greens (local, we assumed). And we both had the mushroom miso soup --very good. It was cool and rainy so we ate inside, among the... More
