It's a diner. Did you come to Hawaii to eat diner food? If so, the food is fine. As others have noted, though, it's dirty. Really dirty. And the bar connected to it is beyond dirty. The service was fine. FWIW, the food came out swiftly and efficiently.

The place does indeed look like it needs a good clean but most places in Pahoa do. The menu is almost too large to have justice done to it but just choose carefully. There are always specials & liver is normally one of them, which I like. The service is fair: It is seat yourself & the kitchen fast enough.... More

Amazing place...everything from Pizza to Asian foods on the menu, and everything has always been great. Comfy booths and tables, and very casual....shirt and slippers (flipflops) and you are dressed fine. A friend loves the Oxtail Soup Even a fair amount of parking, which can be a problem in Pahoa

We ate at Black Rock Café twice, once for breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed both visits. The services was fast and friendly. For breakfast I ordered a short stack of hotcakes. They covered the whole plate and were wonderful.

With some work this COULD be a great restaurant. First of all, it was dirty! They need to take everything out and just clean it. The Mexican Nachos were not. The chili and jalapenos seemed to be from a can, with only enough cheese for half the the chips and the salsa was seriously lacking. The house salads (dark greens,... More

My husband and I had dinner at his restaurant. I ordered the fried mahi-mahi and he ordered the teriyaki beef. The mahi-mahi was overcooked and the teriyaki beef was stringing. The both tasted like they came from frozen dinners. The salad as watery and the salad dressing (I had ranch and he had blue cheese) both tasted sour.

My husband and I decided to try this place out since we have been to Kaleo's and Luquin's several times. We sat down at the table and were greeted by a friendly young man wearing jeans and a t-shirt. To start, we split a chopped Chicken Salad. It was OK, but the chicken was disgusting! There was a grey gelatin... More

We stopped into this cafe on our way to the beach to grab a quick, local, sit down breakfast. It looked inviting enough (on the outside) and we were seated quickly. Inside, not so inviting. It has very basic, outdated decor, with the booth seat taped up with electrical tape and walls unpainted. The server was pleasant and our breakfast... More

Everyone we talk to says the same thing - we've been there once and won't go back. Huge menu....too huge, they can't do a good job on that many different things and somehow the three things we ordered all tasted the same - tasteless.

We stopped by for lunch, it was wonderful. First of all, it's a cute little place and the Christmas decorations were lovely. We tried a variety of things on the menu, all of them were great. Very prompt attention from the staff. Lunch for 6 was under $50. It was all very tasty and affordable. We will be eating here... More
