Coming from Portland, Oregon I did not expect to find a restaurant of this quality in the old plantation town of Pahoa. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was even better. Wait staff was friendly and service was prompt. Local musicians were amazing. The local population of Pahoa is eclectic to say the least. You are definitely not on the... More

We ate at Kaleo's twice last week while staying at a friend's house between Keaau and Pahoa. We live in Naples, FL and NYC and consider ourselves "foodies." Frankly, we did not expect to find a restaurant of this caliber in Pahoa. The chef is obviously very competent and creative and the servers were both pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed... More

If you are missing the mainland, this is a traditional restaurant located in downtown hippieville Pahoa! You can enjoy a fancy delicious meal inside or on the balcony to see the town's going's on. Live music makes the ambiance romantic, soft and a treat to experience. The staff are very friendly and genuinely service oriented. The drinks are free pour... More

We were staying near Pahoa so we knew Kaleo's would probably be our first dinner stop after arriving. What a great decision! We walked in and a lovely mother/grandmother was singing a Hawaiian song and dancing during the instrumentals. A friendly "aloha" greeted us from the host. We were quickly seated, although I noticed a line started forming not long... More

I visited the restaurant on Monday evening and returned on Tuesday at noon. Food: I sat at the bar and ordered a couple pints of beer, then the Seafood Dynamite, with a glass of wine to compliment it. The meal was OK and the seafood seemed fresh. However they sold this as a spice version. It was more rich than... More

It is the best in town, with a variety of dishes. Without a reservation they stick you in a side room off of the parking lot. There is live music on weekends. It is a busy place. The fish dishes were very fresh.

This became our place for dinner during our six days spent on Big Island. This place was recommended by the people from the B&B where we stayed in Pahoa and we did not regret it at all. We enjoyed the atmospher and the various choice on the menu, local dish, fish, burgers, ..., erverybody can find something he likes and... More

We went. Around 7:30 and the parking was gone. We found a place. And a worker informed us that was employee parking. He allowed us to stay as that was the only choice. I had the curry and while the waiter said it wasn't spicy, it was. My husband had a chicken dish, that was fine. The place appeared crowded,... More
