I ordered the fish but it was a little overdone. The staff were lovely and had their kids serve us. Would be nice if they had a better wine selection - they only offered chardonnay.

Some friends, my wife and myself went to Shaka' s to have their prime rib specials. My friend and myself had prime rib and it was pretty good. My wife had salad and her girlfriend had Ono. The Ono was dry and was sent back but the one that replaced it was not only dry but tasted bad. The salad... More

While staying in Naalehu, we visited this restaurant/bar twice. It's notable to visit, but based on the number of guests, the Hana Hou restaurant is more desirable, The Hana Hou was packed out each time we ate there.

We stopped here on our many adventures around the big island. Pros: Super friendly service and cheap beer/drinks, plus it’s a once in a life time. The food was decent. Cons: This place is a dive and those expecting something more will be disappointed. Summary – Keep your expectations in check and go have a brew with the super friendly... More

went to restaurant for 'experience' having read the reviews so knew what we were getting into (knew not to use bathrooms, stay away from drunks etc). sat outside for lunch, ordered the laulau (note: need to like spinach) and the honey fried chicken. was pretty tasty, served hot (waited about 20 min for food, drinks were immediate). for a bar... lousy fish, mediocre hamburgers, nice people, great French fries, not much else around so you still have to go there if you want a drink.

Would have given this place more but the fish was just a little over cooked. But you could taste the freshness and all the food was well prepared otherwise.

We went because our B&B recommended it. .... "I BAD"... Really it is a local bar... that serves food AS needed.. so the name should be BAR in big letters and you would be prepared... After we sat down, we were rudely told that they only take cash!... We checked... yes, we had cash... we expect to pay by cash... More

We stopped by for dinner around 8PM because there didn't seem to be any other restaurants open within 10 miles. Both dinners (fish and chips, fried chicken) tasted like they were frozen when we arrived and then dropped into the fryer and served. The beer was served in a frosted mug but that was the best part of our meal.

Awesome little tavern/restaurant way down south on the Big Island. Didn't eat but had a beer and watched some football with the locals. Menu looked great, will go for lunch or dinner next time. They claim to be the southern most bar in the United States. Loved it!
