We stopped by for dinner around 8PM because there didn't seem to be any other restaurants open within 10 miles. Both dinners (fish and chips, fried chicken) tasted like they were frozen when we arrived and then dropped into the fryer and served. The beer was served in a frosted mug but that was the best part of our meal.

Awesome little tavern/restaurant way down south on the Big Island. Didn't eat but had a beer and watched some football with the locals. Menu looked great, will go for lunch or dinner next time. They claim to be the southern most bar in the United States. Loved it!

We stopped because we thought it would be cool to visit the southernmost bar in the USA. Little did we know that we were in for one of our favorite meals during out 11 day trip to Hawaii! The prices were very reasonable, especially compared to everything else in Hawaii. I had the loco moco and it was very good... More

Delicious Portuguese Bean Soup! We ordered Macadamia Crusted Chicken ( a special) and ribs. Both our entrees were tasty. The place definitely needs a good scrubbing and our server was dismissive and inattentive (she actually sat at the bar on her phone with her back to all the tables!). If you're hungry on the drive from Kona to Hilo, you... More

We arrived after a long day at the volcano and this was the only practical option. Only problem is that we are white and were not given the time of day. Locals were welcomed with open arms over and over as we begged for service. Finally got food which was at best ok. Keep driving if you can.

Well, after a fun day at the black sand beach we went to Shaka Restaurant, Na'Alehu, Hawaii. Pet peeve of mine is that they don't take credit cards but you can get cash at their ATM for a fee, of course. Service was poor and the onion rings came from someone's frozen bag. The young lad's BLT sandwich was good,... More

We stopped by here after visiting the National Park as it was the only place still open. Unfortunately, the kitchen had just closed, but they offered us fried chicken and french fries. I probably should have known better, but I was hungry, so I accepted. Honestly, some of the driest fried chicken I've ever had. However, the breading tasted like... More

We stopped at this place because we saw in an online review that they serve garden burgers. It came with fries and choice of mac salad or coleslaw. Portion was generous, the bun was fresh, and burger cooked just right. It was under $10! Compared to prices around resorts it was very reasonable. My husband had salad and veggies were... More
