Great food but not italian

Desperately looking for a place to dine on our first night on the island we stopped here following Trip Advisor's reviews. Food tastes great, ingredients are fresh, staff is friendly and menu has a great choice. Being from Italy I would not call it italian, maybe just italian-inspired, but I would... read more

While staying at the Luana Inn B&B, a few miles away, we heard about Mi's. It was a great tip and we thoroughly enjoyed our excellent dinner. It's a small but quaint location and could easily be missed when traveling on Hwy 11. The freshness of the local ingredients highlighted the main entre as well as the terrific desert.

After visiting Kona for four years, we decided to stop at a little Italian restaurant off the Mamalahoa Highway in Kealakekua. We wish we had gone there the first year. Morgan and his wife, Ingrid, have the best restaurant on The Big Island. Trained at the CIA in California, Morgan not only has the skill, he has the 'chops'. The... More

We arrived in South Kona very late in the evening, having been 4+ hours delayed on our flight. Tired and hungry, we just stumbled on Mi's Italian Bistro. What a delightful experience -- delicious food and wonderful service. Island cioppino, chocked full of yummy fish, including scallops, prawns, and blue crab. The chef's special of pork tenderloin met with great... More

Nothing to NOT like about this restaurant. The chef studied at CIA in Napa, Cali. The dishes were absolutely excellent. You will not find a salt shaker in this restaurant. The sauces are perfect. We were so happy we decided to try this restaurant.

Had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant twice during the month of March. Each time I enjoyed great service. I was able to experience two different specials prepared by the chef. One being a delicious fresh fish and the other being the chefs version of the shepherds pie. Both meals were excellent. Don't be fooled by the location. This... More

Food is always excellent. Love the specials featuring fresh fish! Fresh island ingredients. Yummy desert. The owners are a lovely couple and often Morgan is the chef or Ingrid is the hostess.

We started with their homemade squash and and plant soup - scrumptious. For the main, the seafood cioppini (fancy fish stew) was divine with a freshly made tomatoe base. My husband enjoyed the lasagna. Prices were reasonable for Hawaii (18-30 mains) and portion generous. Tables are set close together so don't go for an intimate Tete-a-tete. We would definitely return.

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Mi's. The food was good, though a little pricey, but we especially loved the pineapple sorbet for dessert. I was surprised by how nice the atmosphere was, considering that it's just a restaurant on the side of the road that's entirely indoors.

Was recommended this restaurent. Service was good and we were promply seated. We had made reservations and it was a good idea to do so as the restaurent was full. Food was ok, but not great. My meal was basically scallops, shrimp, fish in some sort of tomato sauce. My wife had one of the specials - a Italian Shepards... More
