order the short ribs for lunch or you will forever regret your decision. I am still craving more, more, more of these and it's been over a week since we had lunch there. Very nice ambiance, excellent service, awesome choice - but order the ribs! Expect to pay more to eat here but a good value for the $. Go... more

It’s been a number of years since we were last at Merriman’s and we were happy to find the food just as good as we remembered it. Far as Waimea may be from the main drag of island tourism, it’s a busy place. Unlike places in Kailua-Kona or Waikoloa Resort, Merriman’s offers a less-harried, kitsch-free kind of appeal, concentrating on... more

This was best meal we had on the Big Island the food was terrific and the restaurant was very nice. The crowd varies from casual to semi-formal. The wait staff was nice and friendly, my wife and I did not have reservations and they were nice enough to seat us anyways. The only drawback to this place is the limited... more

Merriman's strives to be a special occasion restaurant, with an ambitious menu of generally high quality dishes. But service is a little rough around the edges. That "Hi I'm Sam and I'll be your server...." is ok for a casual restaurant but seems inappropriate here. As for prices, we had 2 main dishes, 3 glasses of wine, and shared one... more

Dined at Merrimans Friday and Saturday night. Food spectacular, wait staff efficient and unobtrusive. Local products, flavorful sauces that dance in your mouth. Dylan was our waiter and he had a flair for "dinner and a show" he took good care of us. Would go back in a heartbeat. more

Simply put, this was the best place we ate on the Big Island, and contrary to what some people say, we had lots and lots of great food on that island. Merriman's, though, was an A+ meal through-and-through. I had the grass-fed filet, a quail-shrimp-lobster appetizer, a side dish of haricot verts, and the chocolate purse for dessert. My wife... more

Had lunch here Oct.08 after exploring this side of the island (we stayed on the Kona side) & it was worth the drive! We don't typically eat Mexican or any other ethnic food when visiting the Islands but I decided to try the fish tacos & a margarita. Both were heaven! Portions were good for lunch & the margarita was... more

You can count on a nice meal that is made from fresh ingredients. If you are in Waimea for lunch or dinner, this restaurant needs to be the place to dine. Reservations are a must, it is usually filled at the normal meal hours more

Had lunch this past Monday, 10/26. All I can say is wow, beautiful plantation feel restaurant. Prices are reasonable and quality is great. My only complaint is it is far from where I was staying, not their fault. I go to Big Island every other year. I will be back at this restaurant. more
