Great fish but lackluster environment

We found this place in Waimea based on some pretty positive reviews and it only took us three tries to finally get in. We kept calling to see about reservations and never got an answer. Finally figured out that they are only open 4 days a week. As far as the food goes.....the fish was very... read more

After a Blizzard on Mauna Kea mountain, our little town of Waimea was freezing. We were looking for a warm, light lunch, and decided on the Udon and Shrimp Tempura. The Tempura is served on the side. The broth and udon soup was tasty and hit the spot. We were very happy and satisfied. We suggest ordering ahead of time,... More

This little Sushi restaurant is worth popping into. He makes fresh sushi while you wait and has created a menu with options that are both simple and healthy. Try the udon, Hamachi Kama or tempura shrimp roll. He has a good variety and keeps the menu simple so it is always fresh.

Run by a young couple, Aka offers the cheapest sushi in town at a great price. I love their udon noodle dish and usually accompany it with 2-3 sushi rolls. Salmon -avo, hamachi-avo, and ahi-avo. At about 5 bucks a roll, you can't beat the price. Plus it's the same fish you'll pay double or triple for at Sansei, Redwater,... More

This is a cute little place, not cheap but nice flavors. the neon lights made you feel you are eating in some chap salon in China Town, but unfortunately the prices are not sending the same message. However, the hardworking people who run this place do prepare delicious rolls.

We waited for our food for 40 min, the waitress did not inform us of the waiting time and we did not even get a glass of water while waiting. When the food finally arrived, we were somewhat disappointed with the portions. California rolls were small, hand rolls were half empty. For 2 people, we had only the tip of a... More

What a great find in a strip mall in the middle of nowhere. But if you are staying in the vicinity of ten Mauna Lani beach resort it is worth the 45 min to 1 hr round trip. The scenery on the way is wonderful. The restaurant has no atmosphere but the service and food are great! Had the sashimi... More

We crave this place. Everyone in my family has to get their own order of the shrimp tempura sushi roll served warm and drizziled with sweet soy sauce that makes it all come together. Check the time they are open before you go. They take charge cards too. Small eatery, so we usually take it to go and eat at... More

The rainbow roll was a total surprise. Thick layers of the freshest fish stuffed with the highest quality of crabmeat. Not much on atmosphere but it is about the food here. The takeout business they do is non-stop. Service is attentive. The staff stretches themselves at all times.
