Crossing the Big Island? Good lunch stop

Found this in a guidebook and located it behind a shopping center in Waimea. Not glamorous, just a small place in a retail space, but the food was very good and not expensive.

We've been coming here for many years, always as we take friends around to see the sights of the island (we come on our own, too). We ate here three times on this stay. The first visit we enjoyed their quiche offerings, my wife spinach variety and me the ham and cheese, both very tasty. On our next two visits... More

I love this lil cafe in Waimea. It's hidden behind the Parker Ranch shops and it is so very yummy. I ordered the spinach and cheese quiche two days in a row for me and my 18 month old, who ate the whole thing! The dressing on the salad is so delicious and somehow I want yo take bottles home... Went on a Wednesday. You go to the counter to order. They have many fresh salads to choose from with or without greens. My husband chose the Greek salad and I chose the Mediterranean with greens. The greens were very fresh and were the bed for the salad. Serving portions are good sized. The salads were fresh and tasty. They... More

We made a special effort to drive from Kona to Waimea primarily to eat lunch at the Lilikoi Cafe which had been very highly rated by the tour books (especially Fodor's). We were surprised to find a small cafe in a shopping center. It lacked the nice ambiance that we expected. We placed our order at the counter and helped... More

A very unique experience of foods from breakfast crepes, juice drinks, chicken curry salad, meatloaf and lasagna to amazing desserts. That is just to name a few items I love on the menu. Affordable and for a quick bite everything here is amazing. Great deli salads you can easily take to go. Staff is super friendly too.

Want lots of veggies, great sauces, amazing desserts and good coffee? This is the place. Eat in or take out. Price for lunch averages from $10-$15 but worth it. I usually get the choice of 3 salads (big meal) or the veggie sandwich- warm eggplant in yummy sauce on bread of your choice with a side salad. Sometimes I just... More

Well, it was okay. It was reasonably easy to find. The price was fair for the meal, and we were there for breakfast. Were we overwhelmed? No. If it was not written up in the Fodor Big Island book, it is likely we would have overlooked it, and not felt like we missed anything. The staff were very friendly. The... More

We thought this was a nice stopping point for lunch. You need to drive around the back of the Parker Ranch mall: it's between several empty shops. The signage menu board is large, it takes time to study the options. You order at the counter and they bring your selection to your table. There was some confusion differentiating between a... More

What a great find! We drove from Kona to Hilo a little over a week ago and were starving by the time we arrived in Waimea/Kamuela. This is hidden on the backside of Parker Ranch Center, so you have to search for it, but it is definitely worthwhile. Lots of fresh sandwiches, great deli salads, delicious desserts -- all homemade... More
