Great Lunch Stop for Us

This place fills up fast - glad we made a reservation because we had 12 in our group. Our server was knowledgeable and patient, especially with 12 people to attend to. She took everything in stride, was efficient, and our orders were accurate. I had The Works burger. The meat was delicious... read more

The ability to create your own saimin is wonderful. Love saimin and really love being able to "build my own." Try the chicken broth with kabocha, green onion, cilantro, and bok choy.

My wife and I were crossing the big island, going from the Kona side to the Hilo side for a couple of nights and we came across this café during that trek. It was probably around 1pm on a Wednesday. The parking lot was nearly packed so we figured it must be a good lunch stop. We were immediately sat... More

On every visit to the big island, we make a reservation at Red Water, and it continues to delight. The place has a road house feel, and seems just right for a cowboy town. We arrived during happy hour on a Sunday night and had a wonderful server for our table, knowledgeable about the food and a lot of fun... More

We were staying up north on the Kona coast and there are not a lot of dining options. Upon a recommendation, we ventured to this cafe and were treated to one of the best meals we have ever eaten on any of the Hawaiian Islands. Make sure that you get there for Happy Hour. The prices are very reasonable, the... More

After a review of the best TripAdvisor restaurants in Waimea, we selected the Red Water Café. While not rated No. 1 (yet), there were favorable reviews and when compared to No. 1, the reviews indicated that the food was as good and the prices were competitive. There were no comparisons about service or friendliness, which will later become the tipping... More

We arrived for an early dinner as we hadn't had lunch that day, Happy hour menu was extremely reasonable and yummy. We had the ribs for dinner and they were excellent.

Was recommended by our innkeeper, who said that the food was just as good as Merriman's (almost across the street) but more reasonably priced. We didn't have time to make the comparison, but can say that the food, wine, and service were superlative, from an amazing salad to wonderful fish entrees, to a luscious (shared) dessert. Loved the personal touch... More

Waimea has always been a destination for fine dining due to the presence of Merriman's Restaurant, but now there is another reason for foodies to drive up the mountain from the coastal resorts. The Red Water Cafe is located in the old Edelweiss building and offers up some of the best food that we had on this last trip. Ono,... More

We were only in town for 1 night and Merriman's was closed which turned out to be really lucky for us. The food at this place was really great and our server was fabulous.
