After having visited 6 times we ventured out from Kona to try this place up in the country. It feels like back home in the MTNs with a tropical flair. Great Bone in NY Steak and their Fish is off the boat, Their vegies are grown local and you can sure taste the freshness. Must try if you're in the... More

If you are on the Big Isle and want to experience Napa Valley style fine dining, Merriman's is your place. Overall, the food was very good we were well accommodated - one of our party was in a wheelchair. The staff is very friendly and the server was extremely professional. Our only complaint was that the onaga (Hawaiian pink snapper)... More

We enjoyed Merriman's out in the country, his first restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was good. My husband enjoyed the short ribs tremendously My ono was a little dry, but my own fault. The server said it comes out pink, I was concerned because I don't like rare seared ahi. I should have listened to him We... More

About a 20 minute drive from the Mauna Lani is Merriman's. Our reservation was for 7pm but as we arrived at 6:30 thought we might as well get started, but no can do, that's how busy it was on the Friday evening we dined here. No matter, we came back later and were promptly seated. The sommelier offeres a flight... More

I've eaten at Merriman's many times and have high expectations of an excellent meal. I was not disappointed this time either. Peter Merriman, along with being one of the pioneers of Hawaiian Regional Cuisine, also champions small local farmers and ranchers and his menu features products from the island. The food is fresh and delicioius, the drinks well crafted and... More

Dined here twice on our last trip. Once for breakfast and then for dinner. Both meals were awesome. Being able to select two options for our dinner entree was great because it was so hard to just choose one item. Looking forward to a return visit.

I had my fair share of great fish throughout the week. Hip Brazilian bossa nova music was playing in the background. Downside only minor... No bar to have a drink before being seated. I wanted to try some of the grass fed beef and lamb. I had a Korean inspired steak tar tar, Caesar salad, lamb chop and braised lamb... More

This was the best meal I have had in years. Service, entire meal, ambience just wonderful. We loved the option of a main course with 2 choices. Every part of our meal was superb, and the service and knowledge of our waitress was up to her task. We ate fish, lamb, pork, and wonderful chocolate puddings. The team are to... More

Everything here was wonderful, from the warm greeting at the door through the salads, entrees, and dessert. My sweetheart is a vegetarian and Hawaii is not the best place to find a vegetarian meal. The kitchen staff prepared a nice plate of delicious veggies for her. My Ono special was amazing.

Of all the Hawaiian restaurants we dined at during our visit from New York City, Merriman's in Waimea felt to us like the most authentic, local place. The food was outstanding and the service was fantastic too. The décor is incredibly charming. We felt like we had just stepped into a very warm and welcoming dining room, where locals were... More
