We came here on a recommendation from a friend who said take the Route 19 drive it is amazing, and make sure you get Malasadas at Tex's. We had to wait 20 minutes because the make them fresh. We got 6 plain. We ate them hot and fresh right there, and then waited another 20 minutes to get 6 rasperry... More

Absolutely incredible malasadas. We loved all if them( got six different kinds to compare), and I typically prefer the plain ones, but not here. All were tasty. We stopped on the way to Waipio Valley, and ate a few before the hike, and the rest on the beach down there. I have to admit they were quite heavy, the fillings... More

This is a great place to see Malasadas being made. Better yet a great place to eat them. There is a nice gift shop too.

Stopped by for lunch. Wife and I had a couple of orders of fish and chips (daily special) it was okay. Small amount of fish and a ton of fries. Daughter had the chicken basket and thought it was really greasy, son had the beef and shrimp plate. Beef was good shrimp were fried and looked like something out of... More

This place is on the north-east side of the island of Hawaii. It came highly recommended by a tour guide working at the Marriott Waikoloa Resort and Spa on the north-west side of the island. It is know for the BEST MALASADA'S in the WORLD! For lunch, I had an Ono burger. I usually don't eat fish sandwiches but it... More

Driving between Waimea and Hilo - do not miss Tex's. Mango or guava filled malasadas- hot and fresh - finger lickin' good - make sure you have lots of napkins!

I love donuts. I eat them everywhere we travel. In Hawaii, you can get Portuguese donuts, which are called Malasadas, at Tex Drive In. They are hot, they are filled with all kinds of wonderfulness, and they are amazing! I'm partial to the Bavairan cream filled, but the plain are also perfect when they're hot. If you want regular food,... More

Find your way to this place! Malasadas are great!. They are light and fluffy with a dusting of sugar on the outside. We got ours with chocolate and boston creme filling. Get extra for the next day. We did not try any other food so I can't comment on it. indoor and outdoor seating with a good view. Worth the... More

Even though we went in the restaurant, we had trouble getting our order across to the cashier. The food was decent. The biggest reason we stopped was for the malasadas or Portuguese donuts. We didn't know they stop making them at 5pm and often run out. By 6pm, they were out. If you want what they are most famous for,... More
