Holuakoa Cafe is unpretentious from the outside, and looks like a small storefront. What is hidden behind the wall and fence of the property is a delightful open air oasis for dining. I went there for lunch, and had a delightful burger with melted brie cheese on top of local oakleaf lettuce, hamakua tomato, and shaved onion. The laid back... More

My husband and I ate here twice on our honeymoon. It's a lovely drive inland and up-mountain to a quiet town (be sure to bring a sweater or jacket - it gets cool). The food is amazingly fresh and local; the salads were delicious and the entrees superb. I had 2 beef dishes and they were incredible. I'm a huge... More

This little place is my favorite place for breakfast or brunch. They serve lunch and dinner as well. It's a short drive up the hill from town, I've absolutely loved everything I've ordered. The location is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and the food is awesome. Don't miss this place. Don't be in a hurry, relax and enjoy. They... More

Lunch time visit to this cute place. The food was delicious in the lovely garden setting. Forego the Kona hustle and and bustle for a day and find your way to this little village for good food and fun art galleries, especially the Holuakoa Gallery.

This place is all farm-to-table, organic, fresh and very good. Service is friendly and attentive, prices are fair. Beer, wine and cocktails in the sit down restaurant, coffee and pastries and fruit in the attached cafe. Had an amazing grass-fed burger one day and went back for a hish lunch a few days later. Server very knowledgeable about what fish... More

Pumpkin soup wonderful! Ahi absolutly delicious and generous portion. Bone in prok chop not athat good, too raw near the bone, but tasty. Flourless chocolate cake for $9 a very big disappointment in size and taste. Wear something warm because is cooler up the volcano and you sit outside.

Best dining experience I've had in Hawaii. The food was marvelous -- our party had the brisket and fennel-crusted ahi, which both received raves. My gnocci in a parmesan cream sauce was delicious, but extremely rich - I would have welcomed half the serving size balanced with roasted veggies or a fresh salad. The outdoor seating beneath fairy lights amidst... More

A bit out of the way if staying in kona but the drive is worth it. The setting is tropical, the service is a bit slow but only noticeable if the tree frogs are not singing. The food is absolutely wonderful and a welcome change from the noise of downtown. Be sure to visit the potter next door.

I had brunch here at 10am one morning, walking over from the Kona Hotel where I was staying. Lovely terrace surrounded by tropical plants, and I had the place all to myself for the first half hour. The waitress was attentive. The cup of coffee was bottomless. And my grilled mahi-mahi wrapped in bacon was perfect. Probably worth the drive... More

The atmosphere is magical but the service isn't. The pumpkin soup and the Caprese salad were very tasty. But soup needed warming up and our server didn't check in on us. After a lengthy wait, the entrees were good but nothing special. Again our server neglected to check to see how mains were. The delivery of another glass of wine... More
