This is a great place for Thai food in downtown Hilo. All dishes we tried were flavorful and true to the cuisine. Food arrived quickly and we were well looked after by the staff. They can prepare dishes from mild to fiery at your request. It took a lot of restraint to keep from cleaning off every bit of sauce... More

As my username implies, I'm from Frisco, ( been here 11 yrs.) so I've eaten plenty of great Thai food, and New Chiang is right up there with the best. Great pumpkin curry, and ahi Chughchi ( I'm probably misspelling that )

One salad is big enough for a meal for two, if you're not starving. The service was quick and the food excellent. We also enjoyed the green bean dish. Both dishes were large.

Amazing cocunut soup. Huuuuge bowl. Get it with rice and it is a full entree. I order Tom Kha Guy soup everywhere and this is the best I ever had. Pad Thai was good too

Service-someone took our order, and I don't think we ever saw them again. Had to ask for anything extra we wanted by stopping someone as they went by (as opposed to someone checking on us), the food came out as it was ready (so my wife had her food half done before I got mine), not a big deal for... Had a fantastic meal here with friends and family. The menu has lots of variety for every taste. Most dishes have a choice of vegetarian, beef, chicken or seafood. Great food, great service what more can you ask for.

This restaurant is really a lovely place to go; it is next to a small park, there is lots of parking, and the restaurant is nicely decorated. Both the food and service were excellent and the prices were extremely reasonable. The portions were large and everything tasted so fresh and good. We got Pad Thai and Pumpkin curry, extremely delicious.... More

We go there often or get take-out. We love their curries and their brown rice is yummy. Local musicians are a nice touch.

The food here was quite yummy. Be aware that "medium" is pretty spicy if you're not used to spicy food. Loved the Buddharama curry. Has live music from time to time (not the night we visited, though).

The food here is unbelievably good. I never knew Pad Thai could be so good or green curry that delicious. Relax as this home cooked Thai food can take a bit to arrive, but when it does – make room for over eating. This food is too good to walk away and leave something on the plate.
