Fabulous Thai Food, Prepared to your Taste!

I really love Sombat's. The food is fresh, healthy, and fragrantly delicious. It is authentic Thai food. Don't go in looking for Pho, which is Vietnamese, or Chop Suey! She will prepare your Tom Yum with a different variety of herbs and vegetables if you are not feeling up to par... just let your... read more

Had a great dinner at Sombats. My wife had the Pad Thai mild + and I had the red curry with beef medium spicy. Both were excellent. Medium spice was enough. Huge portions for the price. Thai ice tea was fabulous. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the pineapple boat fried rice. So delicious! Daughter always get the Tom Yum soup - it is packed with food and flavor. At lunch, there are several options available to choose from at the counter. The staff is very friendly. The owner comes round to visit and help. The place is tiny, but we've always managed to... This was some of the best Thai food that I have ever had. We ordered medium spicy and it was more like hot or extra hot at other resturants. The atmosphere there was great and they had good service. If you are wondering where to eat when in Hilo, eat at Sombat's

My wife and I eat at Sombat's often and always enjoy the food and atmosphere. We have a friend that comes form Honolulu four of five times a year and always insists on eating at Sombat's. Caution! I like my food more spicy than most but medium is good for me here. I can eat the hot but it is... More

Came in one night about 30-40 minutes before they close. My husband had the pad Thai done mild and I had the pineapple fried rice medium spiciness. The food was delicious, steaming hot and made with fresh ingredients. I would recommend that you be careful of how spicy you order your food. Seems like most Thai restaurants here on the... More

We often stop here when we are in Hilo. We especially enjoy the cashew chicken, which is plentiful enough for us to share--and take some home!. While we enjoy the food, it is a small restaurant and can easily get crowded, so it is helpful to make a reservation, even during the week. The wait staff all seem to be... More

Simply the best Thai food in Hilo! Everything is fresh! The brown rice is wonderful and different from other places I have tried. One of my favorites is the peanut sauce with stir fry veggies. I been taking out food there once a week and always enjoy!

The folks who think this is the best in Hilo should try Chiang Mai. I had only one order from Sombats (can't remember now what it was) and Thai iced tea. The tea did not have that rich milky flavor that it is supposed to have. The meal was ok but nothing to rave about.

I love Thai food, but this restaurant is the best I've ever eaten. Normally we order medium spiciness, but our waitperson advised us to go with mild-plus which was a great recommendation. The food was fresh and unbelievably tasty. The portion sizes are enormous; my son was the only one who was able to finish his meal. The rest we... More
