Read good reviews online and suggested meeting there to my friend who lives in Hilo. Her response was "Great, Sombat's is awesome!" I cook a lot of Thai food and generally don't care for most of the Thai restaurants I visit on the mainland. The food here was amazing. Delicious, perfectly prepared, generous portions well priced. Space is small, but... More

The staff two girls (the sweetest, pleasant, polite) great customer service ! I ordered papaya salad which was a huge portion and the best compared to what I get for half the price here in uk. The tom yum soup with chicken was the best my fiancé ever had in his life lol . And the prawn pad pik ? Not... More

We read the Trip Advisor reviews of this place when looking for a place to eat while on vacation and I have to say they are pretty accurate. We were somewhat concerned with the look of the building from the outside when we pulled up ,but don't let that fool you though. It is very small but cute inside and... More

Wow...we had to look a little to find this cute little place, and it was worth every second. This small, bright little place has great big flavors and delivered some of the best Thai my hubby and I have ever eaten. The waiter was efficient and friendly, and the food came out in a timely fashion. When we eat at... More

I came here based on trip advisor reviews, and as usual I was not disappointed! I got to the restaurant about 15 mins before closing, but thankfully they still served me, as I was exhausted and famished after spending over 16 hours on planes and in airports today. I ordered the Coco soup with vegetables and tofu, and the waiter... More

When we first walked into this little place with maybe 7 tables, I had to wonder but, what they don't have in room they certainly have in quality. I've eaten at a few Thai restaurants in Hilo...and there are many....this is certainly the best quality in Hilo. The waitresses are very nice and I think family of the owner and... More

There is nothing not to like. This is undeniable the best Thai food in the state of Hawaii. The cashew chicken is awesome. The lunch line choices are outstanding. All of the curries are expertly crafted. Sombat is a magician with flavor blends. The beef salad expresses complex Flavors best. If you have room, treat yourself to incredible desserts.

This place fills up. Make a reservation. We did not and had to come back the next day. It is not much to look at but the food was great and the service was good.

The best Thai food I have ever had, with a unique flavour that relies on fresh herbs and other quality ingredients. Not to be missed, if you are in Hilo, and walking distance from all the hotels on Banyan Drive. I ordered a curry and added chicken. The amount of chicken was generous and so delicious. I opted for "mild... More

My husband and I made a meal of a number of appetizers and salads. The fresh spring rolls, fried tofu, papaya salad and garb lai (minced chicken) were all outstanding. I wish we had had time to go back again to sample more of the menu!
