Good spicy food, lack of water

Came in one night about 30-40 minutes before they close. My husband had the pad Thai done mild and I had the pineapple fried rice medium spiciness. The food was delicious, steaming hot and made with fresh ingredients. I would recommend that you be careful of how spicy you order your food. Seems... read more

We often stop here when we are in Hilo. We especially enjoy the cashew chicken, which is plentiful enough for us to share--and take some home!. While we enjoy the food, it is a small restaurant and can easily get crowded, so it is helpful to make a reservation, even during the week. The wait staff all seem to be... More

Simply the best Thai food in Hilo! Everything is fresh! The brown rice is wonderful and different from other places I have tried. One of my favorites is the peanut sauce with stir fry veggies. I been taking out food there once a week and always enjoy!

The folks who think this is the best in Hilo should try Chiang Mai. I had only one order from Sombats (can't remember now what it was) and Thai iced tea. The tea did not have that rich milky flavor that it is supposed to have. The meal was ok but nothing to rave about.

I love Thai food, but this restaurant is the best I've ever eaten. Normally we order medium spiciness, but our waitperson advised us to go with mild-plus which was a great recommendation. The food was fresh and unbelievably tasty. The portion sizes are enormous; my son was the only one who was able to finish his meal. The rest we... More

We've driven by sombat almost every day last year when we were in Hilo, but never went in.. its a weird location, across from the airport, but access to the building is through the industrial area, so maybe not all that inviting. We love thai food, eat and (attempt) to cook it regularly, and the stuff here was by far... More

We were in Hilo heading back from the volcano park and my wife found Sombats on the local yelp with great reviews. We called ahead got a reservation. The food was excellent. A lot of the vegetables are grown by the lady who runs the place. The two girls who ran the place were very positive and cheerful and seemed... More

This is a very small restaurant in an industrial area. It is often closed, sometimes for a month at a time, but is worth watching for. Lunch specials and Thai iced tea.

Was in Hilo for a wedding. Great spot, good food and great service. Brought our own wine. In general don't stay in Hilo if you don't have to you want to be in Kona.
