My,oh,my - customer service is lacking here. The food was superb and the waitress was wonderful but we arrived early and asked for a window table and were told they were all reserved. We have been given the worst table, a two person table in an alcove with no view. Almost all the tables in the restaurant were empty at... More

The manager "KELLY" has poor customer service skills!! She tried to accuse us with getting away with a free drink when in actuality her waitresses lacked communication and messed up on our order!! We went as a group - maybe 10 of us and spent nearly $500 on drinks and food!! From experience .. We are never going to eat... More

The food here is quite good, although a bit expensive. We ate at the bar, and the service was excellent. Despite having to prepare drinks for all of the tables, the bartender/waitress was still very attentive and friendly. My husband had the scallops with a very nice light sake-based sauce. He really enjoyed it. I had the pasta putanesca which... More

That which is old is new again. The place has shed its bad location and ugly orange environment for a new denizen on the actual Bay Area of Hilo. I'm surprised with the subpar reviews as this is the best place I've eaten in all of Hilo. Yes, even nicer than Cafe Pesto (still a good place). Hilo Bay Cafe... More

We visited the café in October 2013 (in the old location). The menu was limited and the portions were small. If ambiance and presentation are your thing, you'll probably like this place. If you're more of a foodie, don't expect too much. The grass-fed beef leaves a lot to be desired.

From the outside we weren't expecting much. We had been told to make reservations, but it seemed unnecessary when we arrived before 6pm on a Tuesday. By 6:30, the restaurant was packed. It was easy to see why when we tasted the drinks and ate the food. Good views of Hilo Bay

We were just looking for some grub after driving over to Hilo from Kona. What a great find! Our server Marla, was so professional and patient. We were really hungry, so we ordered several sushi to start. We are picky about our sushi, and this was perfect, the maguro like butter, the spicy tuna roll just right, and the shrimp... More

Nice place. Awesome location. Accommodated us without reservation. Little pricey but nice quality food. Nice selection of wines. Nice moscato was served. Server was very helpful and forthcoming in suggestion.

We live in Hilo and were excited when the restaurant moved from its previous cramped location in a shopping mall to the present renovated location which is indeed on Hilo Bay with a lovely view. We have taken visitors and local friends there three times for lunch and once last night for dinner. The food tends to be inconsistent, very... More

The previous location for this restaurant was in a shopping center, and I could not understand the name. Well, now Hilo Bay Cafe is on Hilo Bay, the view is fantastic, the food is great, and my favorite was that they serve local craft beers.
