By far, one of the best varieties of dishes and highest quality. They strive to use local and the staff has always been impeccable. The new location has only enhanced my enthusiasm of this gem in Hilo.

The restaurant has moved to a nice place close to coconut island and the view from the windows is very nice with Mauna Kea on a fine day. However, the food there is a little expensive and the menu variation is poor.

As others have noted, be sure and check the address you are using. The address on TripAdvisor is correct. The address in the AAA Tour Guide book and in Garmin GPS is incorrect (they've moved). Dinner starts at 5:00. We arrived at 4:30 and ordered off of the lunch menu. Good selection of items and not all that expensive (even... More

We stopped in and found the cafe to be exactly what we were after. Good fish and sandwiches. The draft beers were few but diverse. They also have bottled beers.

First off, they have relocated, they are not in the strip mall anymore, but the location still seems a bit out of place for their style. Like some others have said, yes, it's expensive and the food isn't very plentiful, but what you get is good. I had the pot pie and my husband had the eggplant. Both were average... More

Quite different from the rest of Hilo that we experienced. We liked the low-key, non gentrified feel of Hilo, but this restaurant was a fun diversion. It was not a cafe, but a nice restaurant with interesting, good dishes. Location on the water was good, too.

Have eaten here several times since they have moved to their new location. High quality, fresh ingredients and servers committed to excellence. Pricey, but worth it.

We stopped here on our way to Rainbow Falls and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The location was a nice view of the bay. My son had a burger, I had the tomato bisque and my husband had fish and chips. It was the best soup I've had and the fish and chips were the best on the island. The burger... More

Husband and I came to Hilo Bay Cafe after being refered there by our hotel next door on our honeymoon in May 2014. We island hopped from Oahu for a few days and were excited for the new higher end dining. Well, Hilo Bay Cafe left A LOT to be desired. My fish was literally just fish sticks. Husbands steak... More

This was our last dinner before departing the big island. WoW! Awesome food and the cocktails were amazing. I had the hamakua mushroom pot pie and my husband had the roast chicken with gnocchi.. Bother were absolutely fantastic! We also had a couple cocktails including the mauna kea sunset and the Mai tai... The Mai tai was the best we... More
