Great location with water view

Wife and I just returned from dinner. We felt service was attentive, food good to very good and pricing was very good. Nice water view. Seating didn't seem cramped or on top of one another as a prior posting indicated. I enjoyed my mahi mahi fish and chips (fries were particularly good). Wife raved... read more

Stopped into the Hilo Bay Cafe for dinner. First I do not think the name is correct - the quality of food does not associate with a cafe! We had two fantastic appy's - roasted beets and lettuce cups both were presented well and were delicious. Our main was the scallops, again presentation was excellent and the blend of flavours... Enjoyed the best dinner while on the island. The fish was very fresh and flavorful and lovely side dishes. They offer some additional cocktails, too. Service was very attentive.

First, who builds a bar that blocks the view of gorgeous Hilo Bay? Next, they must have a serious staffing problem. Every time the hostess was engaged, whether to ask a question or when she served a plate, it was wrong. Nice smile but lacked common sense. Try to get her attention and she'd smile at you and walk away.... More

This is located by Lili`uokalani Botanical Garden and it's a great location. Sit out on the verandah and watch the Hilo Bay life. Idyllic. The service is great, the food is really good (fusion of Japanese/US/French) and it's a joy. You could probably find fault with something if you tried hard enough, but then you really shouldn't visit nice places... More

In a new building not far from Banyan Drive and Coconut Island, this cafe serves fine food at a moderate price. It used to be in a shopping center in southeast Hilo, but has really upgraded with the new location.

6 of us all enjoyed delicious dinners - 4 are vegetarians, and finding good creatively prepared vegetarian food can be challenging. The eggplant parmesan custard appetizer, mushroom curry potpie was delicious as was the grass fed gorgonzola burger. The prices were quite reasonable - we happened to arrive shortly before 5, so we were offered the late afternoon menu. Would... More

One of the nicer restaurants on the Hilo side by the park and water. You can sit outside for a view of the bay. Ordered the Chili Fried Chicken which was tasty but nothing outstanding. Can't put my finger on it but the whole experience just didn't quite deserve 4 stars for me though the server was really attentive. The... More

We really enjoyed the pan-Asian style food at this lovely modern restaurant. Service was excellent, and the bonus is- a walk in the adjacent beautiful Japanese garden after the meal. This is not a place to rush.

First time..and we asked ourselves if we could have the old Hilo Bay Cafe back?! Menu is overpriced and we weren't impressed the quality of food and sushi order. Drinks were also expensive and seating design (although they tried to accommodate a view for the entire floor) seemed to stack everyone on each other. Not sure if we'll ever be... More
