Nice Restaurant with Great View

Hilo Bay Cafe is one of the nicer restaurants in the Hilo area. The menu has a nice variety and is priced reasonably. We enjoyed beautiful views of the bay. They also have a very nice wine list.

We have eaten fish and chips and other dishes at the old location and always delicious and fresh. Ordered fish and chips at the new location, which is beautiful.the plates were presented looking like fish was burned & looked so bad, so new ones brought out for replacement and that fish was really dry and nothing like the fish we... The dining area is quite modern and pretty stark. The food is pretty good with fresh fish and vegetables. There is plenty of parking here and it is right on the water which is nice. Service was fine.

My wife and I ate bare on valentine's day. I had the saladwith the fish of the day. I had blue cheese dressing. It was ahealhy sized portion that filled me up but wasn't o early gigantic. It was normal sized. The lettuce was. Crispy and vegetables were tasty. It was a busy daybut we had reservations for lunch but... More

My husband and I split the mushroom lettuce cups and the ahi poke for a light meal (others in our group had entrees that they enjoyed). They were delicious. Especially loved the lettuce cups! Nice atmosphere, good service

Food here used to be good. Only real fine dining option in hilo with farm to table localvore cuisine with emphasis on fresh. After recent move to new location it has looked better in ambiance but dropped significantly in quality and value. Seems to want to cater to tourists rather than the repeat customers. Food is a rip off now... More

after reading a few reviews we thought we would give it a try. Don't be mislead by the name "cafe", this is a very nice restaurant. Clean with a nice location. Meal was good with reasonable prices.

They recently moves to the bay, coincidentally, as their name suggests but they used to be in a strip mall between staples/office max and Walmart. The food is still as delicious as ever. The menus is small but diverse and the food has been great every time I've gone. The menu is also very reasonably priced and they always have... More

Was in Hilo in January with hubby. Had a great meal at Hilo. I had Greens Salad with Flax dressing and Spicy Tuna Roll. Hubby had Steak Sandwich. For dessert we had Ginger Panna Cotta and Pot De Crème. Everything was very fresh and the Panna Cotta was one of the best I'd had. The ginger was a very nice... More
