Noodle City

What a great place for sailing, soba and ramin noodles. Many in soups and some cold and in salads. Very reasonable prices. Patronized by many locals. Credit cards accepted. Well worth a visit!

Loved the food here. I had the chicken stick plate, which included several chicken sticks (yakitori), rice, and potato salad. The flavor of the marinated chicken was fantastic. For desert I had the strawberry haupia pie. This was another amazing dish! I bought a block of chocolate mochi to take home, and yes this too was superb! The only gripe... More

No visit would be complete without a bowl of Saimin. We prefer Hilo Style Wonton Min Special. (with chicken stick) Lots of other local dishes on the menu.

The food here is great. It's a good hole in the wall kind of place. There were 3 or 4 waitresses, yet our water glasses got all the way to empty at least twice. Food takes a long time to come out - but once it does, it's very tasty! Go here if you have time to spare, and you're... More

Seeing this makes me homesick! When we lived in Hilo it was a "go to" place for delicious local style food.

I have very fond memories of this restaurant growing up and maybe I should have just stuck to the old favorites on this short road trip back home like the loco moco or saimin. I tried the bibimbap and it was not what I expected. They do a lot of dishes well, but not this Korean favorite. I would recommend... More

Nori opens early and stays open late, perfect for travelers. Food was very good and straight forward. No pressure to eat and run, and I enjoyed my meal while I was able to collect my wits. Highly recommended for service and convenience

Located in the basement of run-down strip mall, Nori's is easy to miss. Tourists never find it - their loss! The busy staff serve scrumptious Japanese and Hawaiian homestead food from a tiny kitchen. Half the menu is different noodle soup permutations. The other half ranges from butterfish in miso sauce through bibimbap and loco moco burgers. After numerous visits... More

Was feeling a little under the weather and wanted a bowl of saimin. Just got plain style and it was good. Couldn't eat it all in one go. Was my form of matzah ball soup. Definitely a very local place. Always busy in the back seating area when I'd pop in. Reminds me of a neighborhood deli in LA or... More

I would almost rate this place as a 5! I ordered the big plate and it was plenty for two and very good!! My only minor complaint is that I asked to pay extra for fried rice as a side dish and was told it wasn't possible. And, maybe the coffee could be better but other than that I really... More
