Friendly and excellent cold-brewed iced coffee

Loved this place. My daughters had the waffles and cleaned their plates. The coffee was excellent. My husband had the Mexican-style coffee. I had the iced coffee that had been cold-brewed (my preferred way of making it) and it was delicious. The owner and wait staff could not have been friendlier... read more

We stopped here to have a quick breakfast and we loved it! We have been welcomed nicely and we got immediately coffee and water. We had an egg Burrito and a triple egg with spinach, ham and cedar, all very good and tasty! We took also a slice of brownies that was also delicious! Definitely a place to go!

We had a yummy breakfast here before driving down to Volcano National Park on a Sunday. Luck for us it opened at 7am. Everything is cooked up fresh and the service was good. We both had the breakfast burrito for $5.95 a bargain.

We had walked in to several places and they were all overwhelmed. Then we came into this place and were immediately showered with attention. The owner is a kick. He persuaded us to have the roast chicen meal with vegetables and mashed potatoes for $8. He said he would have our leftovers made into a sandwich which he did. The... More

A client that came into Big Island Academy of massage recommended I try bears a try for lunch. So I did. I was really hungry and in a hurry. I couldn't decide what I wanted so staff suggest the days special. Cordon bleu chicken. So I said OK I'LL TAKE IT...I didn't look inside my Togo box until I got... More

Friendly helpful service at great a great price. meals are ordinary in the good down home sense with nice size portions. Older cafe but gives you the original feel with a German cook.

For local fun and color, you can't beat this eatery. Serves $8 lunches of leg of lamb, roast beef, pot roast, roast chicken. Can't be beat. It appears to be a bit of a local hangout and the occasional tourist will quickly be drawn into the fray. I'm sure I'll be going there again and again.

We were looking for breakfast. Picked the restaurant because it was recommended by Fodors (Sorry TripAdvisor). It looked a little "messy/scruffy" but took a table. The two waiters inside ignored us from the start. No coffee offered, my wife ant to use the rest rooms. Disgusting, filthy….. Still no service after her return we thought a quick exit would be... My son lives about 30 minutes outside of Hilo. We had to wait on a ride, and got hungry. He told me that was the worst place for eating; but I ignored him. I ordered a simple burger, and a coffee. The burger was not edible, and the coffee had lots of ground coffee floating around. The owner is very... More
