Moco Loco Treat

Our entire family came here for lunch on our way to the Volcano. I argued for trying Hawaiian food, rather than eating fast food. My husband and I shared a Super Moco Loco, and my son had a Teriyaki Beef plate. It was around $23 for both and two sodas. My parents had hamburgers and french fries... read more

Stopped here while on a day visit to Hilo. Had the chicken with beef steak teriyaki. The beef was a little chewy for my taste. But all in all meal was a good value for a quick meal. Would I return, yes. I just would not order the beef.

Totally a fan of anything with gravy! They have lots of variety of local foods and not to mention very inexpensive. All the food is made to order, so no reheating in the microwave to make hot. My favorite is the fish loco, i don't eat meat so nice to see a variety of different foods. Downside is, no free... More

Wife and I hit this place before heading south to see the volcanos. Heard alot about it on trip advisor. Had no clue whatsoever what the loko moco was. Nice clientele knew we we tourists and gave us the heads up about the hapa plate and loko moko. Awesome local food and it gets busy....for good reason. Clean, great food... More

Cafe 100 Loco Moco? Yup, this is THE place that invented it. Is it the best loco moco you will ever eat? Probably not. Is it still REALLY good though? Hell yes. It is also worth making the pilgrimage to pay respect and give thanks for coming up with the greatness that is the loco moco. There is a whole... More

A loco moco is a portion of rice topped with a fried egg, meat of some kind, and brown gravy. It's a local thing, like Kentucky Brown in Kentucky or poutine in Montreal. They have a variety of meats to choose among. My sausage wasn't hot though the rice was OK. If you want to eat local, go ahead. Otherwise... More

First time coming to cafe 100 and having grown-up on Maui we know that this is a place to go when in Hilo. Let me tell you it is a must try. The Loco moco is so good and u can't beat the price $3 n change. The place is like right out of the 60s or 70s, and the... More

Cafe 100 is where locals go for the original Loco Moco. May sound weird to mainlanders, but starting your morning with a pile of rice, topped with a gravy-soaked hamburger patty and, finally, a nice, runny egg, will fill you up and tastes great. Their tripe stew, served only on Wednesdays, is the best there is, and the long lines... More

My cousin Jay took me there and recommended the Miso Fish it was so delicious that I'm craving some just writing the review. I had it with the Mac and Rice. They were average but, the fish was so ONO! This is also the birthplace of the famous Hawaiian special Loco Moco. Great island food you can try for pretty... More

We were told to stop at cafe 100 and try their Goody Good! They are the best little treats EVER! We tried both strawberry and coconut and loved them both! We got a loco moco which was great and at $3.50 how can you go wrong! You can't beat their prices! Cheapest place we have found and the food was... More
