Eat like a local

Cafe 100 is where locals go for the original Loco Moco. May sound weird to mainlanders, but starting your morning with a pile of rice, topped with a gravy-soaked hamburger patty and, finally, a nice, runny egg, will fill you up and tastes great. Their tripe stew, served only on Wednesdays, is the... read more

First time coming to cafe 100 and having grown-up on Maui we know that this is a place to go when in Hilo. Let me tell you it is a must try. The Loco moco is so good and u can't beat the price $3 n change. The place is like right out of the 60s or 70s, and the... More

My cousin Jay took me there and recommended the Miso Fish it was so delicious that I'm craving some just writing the review. I had it with the Mac and Rice. They were average but, the fish was so ONO! This is also the birthplace of the famous Hawaiian special Loco Moco. Great island food you can try for pretty... More

We were told to stop at cafe 100 and try their Goody Good! They are the best little treats EVER! We tried both strawberry and coconut and loved them both! We got a loco moco which was great and at $3.50 how can you go wrong! You can't beat their prices! Cheapest place we have found and the food was... More

Just ate here. Food was terrible and overpriced. I got the fried chicken and teri plate. The best thing was the rice, sad but true. My husband got the Kailua pork combo. Not good. My son got the chickwhich, a fried chicken patty sandwich that was worse than McDonald's $1 McChicken and cost $4.95! My daughter got a hamburger for... More

I'm not sure why cafe 100 is a popular restaurant. You have to stand in line and place your order at a window. They only have seating outside at picnic tables. It took me a long time to place my order because I couldn't find anything that was appealing on their menu. I ended up with a ham and cheese... More

We had been looking forward to trying the famous Loco Moco. We were not disappointed at all, we had both the original and spam locos with a side of tasty Mac salad. Place was busy the entire time we were there and prices were affordable.

Looking for a place to eat with young children this place hit the mark. Figured it had to be good when we saw the ambulance and utility trucks in the parking lot. Food local and fresh made to order.

I thought it was pretty good! And it's a really filling cheap lunch. Spam is not for everyone, but you have to try a loco moco with spam at least once while you're on the island. I can't really compare it to other places because this was the only time I tried it, but I can say that there were... More

this is an iconic Hilo local restaurant. For the real experience try their loco moco that comes in many variations. My husband ordered this and had more than he could eat. I had the mahi which I enjoyed very much. An experience to remember. An interesting variation to fast food. Tables are out side with a roof overhead.
