We were in Hilo for the day and decided to eat at Café 100. 45 minutes after eating there, I wished we would have kept driving. First of all the area that the restaurant is located in is very sketchy. Run down hotels, shops with bars on the windows and the police were sitting on two suspects right around the... More

We read a lot of good reviews of Café 100 before we decided to eat there. There were quite a few positive reviews here, and in the "Blue Book" and Fodor's. We found the food to be mediocre at best. Perhaps their much raved about loco moco is good, but don't go here looking for plate lunch.

Walk up window to order. Took a bit of time to get because it was so crowded. Lots of local folks and local food. Food was good but not fantastic but priced reasonable.

We never miss a stop at Cafe 100 when we're in Hilo. Hands down the most affordable and consistently good traditional Hawaiian on the Big Island. I am addicted to their chicken Katsu, but have also tried their Loco Mocos and many other Hawaiian plate lunches. It can be very busy at times, but well worth the (minimal) wait. Excellent... More

Cafe 100 was a huge disappointment. I love testing and eating plate lunch at various restaurants on the islands. Unfortunately, Cafe 100 was one of the worst. Stick with L&L.

You can make their food at home: put white rice on a plate, microwave a frozen and/ or fried piece of protein, add a can of brown gravy and top it with a fried egg. No wonder why the joint is cheap. Ugh. Terrible.

Great food, so many choices. Not sure-just ask, staff is very friendly. Love the open air dining which is an option at so many HI places. There is just something charming about picking up an order that has been packed in a small cardboard box. Great prices too!

Big portions for generally small prices. We has the Kilauea loco moco which replaces the gravy with chili. Also tried the somen salad (Japanese cold noodles) and Portuguese bean soup. Everything was tasty and BIG. Wish we had more of an appetite to try more food. Definitely where the locals go for a good bite to eat, and a must... More

Some say this is the home of the "loco moco". If not, they have perfected this fun Hawaiian meal. Most places just have the hamburger patty version, but this place has about 8 different versions, including spam and fish. Lots of locals like this place. Being only about 2 miles from the Hilo airport, it is a great place to... More

Even though they have a gajillion kinds of loco moco here, I had the lau lau special. It was great! The people who work here are really sweet too. Add inexpensive to the mix, and it becomes a must-visit!
