You should make reservations to be sure that you won't have to wait to get a seat. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the selection is varied, with Japanese food the specialty. We take visitors here and just celebrated a retirement with a delicious dinner. It is always busy, but the service is good and you will... More

Came back for a visit to Hilo and revisit ed Miyos. I've enjoyed the foid in the past. This time, we were able to make reservations. The line out the door for dinner, was long. We were sweating during our meal making it unpleasant. No AC and the fans did not do a thing to cool things down. It, was... More

The food is really good, down to earth Japanese comfort food. It is always busy there but the food is always good and the service is fast.

Lots of people like to eat here. We waited a few minutes before we were seated. The food tasted great! The weather was hot and there is no a/c. Fortunately we were seated outside where it was a bit cooler.

Miyo's is very popular with local folks but I find it to be uneven. I have gone there many times. Some items are excellent, some are not. THeir fish specials tend to be very good. Their sesame chicken is greasy and the chicken tastes old and contains fat chunks. The chicken katsu is a bit greasy as well. The tempura is... More

We arrived at Hilo airport on our way to Volcano and asked for recommendations from the information desk and the rental car desk. They sent us to a local hawaiian restaurant, but it was closed. Fortunately, Miyo's was in the same shopping center and was open (closes at 8:30, which I thought was a little early). There were 6 of... More

I love this restaurant for its fresh salads and tasty food. You can make your own two combination dinner plate even though it's not mentioned on the menu. I had the tempura and chicken katsu, which comes with two shrimp and assorted veggies, salad, miso soup, rice and chicken katsu. The katsu was nicely cooked, not greasy and not fatty.... More

We ate there twice while in Hilo, and the second time had with us family who had lived in Japan for up to 5 years. They LOVED the place and the food. This is not a fancy restaurant. The place is full of local families who know the wait staff by name. Just good Japanese style food and lots of... More

Our foursome ate here on a Thursday night and had a reservation for 6:30. We were visiting from California, our friends are natives. The menu is varied and the food is delicious - fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared, wonderful variety. This includes bento boxes, grilled fish, tempura, salads. They do not serve liquor but fine to BYO, no corkage fee. They... More
