Love this place. stayed in Hilo for a week or so recently and ate here everyday for breakfast - never had bad service, bad food, or too long a wait. Could stand a little more parking but that is the ONLY complaint - comfort food at its finest! more

This is a like a Hawaiian "Denny's". We ate dinner and breakfast there. I had their famous Saiman dish and it was good. Like a ramen noodle soup. Their breakfast was very good. The pancakes are served with coconut, guave & passionfruit syrups that are excellent. Ken's makes their own coconut syrup. The atmosphere of the restaurant isn't the best.... more

If you've been to the Big Island, you know that everything shuts down early! And if you are out and about sightseeing, you can easily not be ready for dinner until 8 or 9 PM. While everything is Hilo seemed closed for the night (a Friday night) around 8:30PM, we found Ken's in a very prominent corner. "Thank goodness they... more

When we walked in we could tell immediately that this was a local favorite and then we found out why. It's a diner-style menu but gives large portions for very reasonable prices. Probably the best deal eating out we had in Hawaii (everywhere else was more expensive than our food on the mainland). It's really good food too and has... more

Ken's is old Hawai'i. It's not fancy but the food sure is good and there are lots of Hawai'ian specialties. The most fun thing about Ken's is the check out area. There were all these pictures of The Rock! Remember? He's the guy who made fun of tourists to Hawai'i in an SNL skit and received so much flack over... more

I fly in once a quarter and always go here for breakfast. They have a massive menu, almost as big as the omelets. The breakfasts come with a lot of sides like toast, rice, pancakes, hash browns. Nobody walks away from this place still hungry. In fact, I can’t write any lunch reviews for Hilo because I’m always so full... more

For what it is (a breakfast diner), this place was fabulous. We're not talking high-end, we're talking extensive menu, fast service, great value, plenty of food. We ate at Ken's after a helicopter tour that made us slightly airsick, and this was perfect. The menu is huge with a lot of variety (you can see the full menu on the... more

KHOP is not a fancy place to dine by any means, but they have great food, a huge selection of different options, and the service was excellent. Our hotel recommended Kens when we arrived around 7:30pm on a Saturday night. Had great food, huge portions, reasonable prices. Decided to come back for breakfast the next morning and once again were... more

Passed thru Hilo on the way to Volcanoes so first time at Ken's. My GF goes to Hilo from time to time on business, and she stops at Ken's every time. So she dragged me there this time while we were there on vacation. Great place, great service, huge menu that'll take a first timer 10 minutes to read and... more
