A good choice

This restaurant is especially good for larger (and louder) groups, but not so much for couples. The food is quite good and the service is attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself is in a very large room and can be a bit noisy.

We enjoyed our meal here. Pizza! Another local beer! Pleasant service. The bathrooms are down the hall and up the stairs.

Recommended and not disappointed. Decor of 1940s Hawaiian. Portions good. Unusual presentations of some of the dishes but good.

I don't often give anywhere five stars but in this case I would give six if I could. Prior to going to this restaurant we had read a mix of reviews, some good some not so good. Our meal started with seared scallops. The scallops were nicely prepared and presented. Service was good (server; Bronson) even though the restaurant was... More

I wasn't impressed. Might have been an off night, but it wasn't memorable for the right reasons. Prices are inflated, and they attempt to deliver, but just don't. The service was off putting. The hostess acted like she was put out when we showed up for our reservation. Five minutes after we ordered the soup of the day, the waiter... More

We ate here on our first night on Hawaii. It seems to be *the* place to eat in Hilo. The staff were very friendly and the place had a nice atmosphere. The food was in all honesty a bit average and we weren't that tempted to return.

A group of us went to Cafe Pesto recently, we have been there several times in the past, as it's one of our favorites. 2 of us tried the Kalua Turkey sandwich, with carmelized onions, wilted spinach, and mango chutney on the side (that added a real enhancement to the sandwich), it was on this wonderful very soft french roll,... First, admit that Hilo is not a food destination type of place. But Hilo is an interesting place to visit and nearby Volcano National Park is a must see, so this is a good spot to stop on the way or on the way back from the park. Right on the main drag across from the waterfront, the restaurant is... More
