We went to this place for lunch. Since we don't eat eggs and no onion or garlic either, we ordered a customized margherita pizza. It was really great - lots of cheese, tomatoes and basicl. A pretty heavy lunch!

We enjoyed Cafe Pesto for a late lunch on our last day in the area. Had we stayed longer, we would have come back again. The restaurant had quieted down by the time we arrived, so we had a window seat. We had a bit more than a peek-a-boo view of the bay and a great view of people walking... More

The Hakalau sandwich was billed as Kaiua turkey, which is essentially an emu cooked turkey. Delicious. My husband ordered a pizza, which was cooked to perfection. Wait staff was very friendly, and our visit was after the rush of a large lunch crowd. Very commendable. Easy to find on the mail street of HIlo, and worth a visit before or... More

I'll make this a short as possible. Go to Cafe Pesto. It's not a fancy place to look at....think bistro decor. The food is absolutely fabulous. Our waiter was a veteran and our app and dinner selections were based heavily on his recommendations. He definitely sent us in a great direction. Our two apps alone would have rated this place... I go here every time I'm in Hilo. Everything I've ever had is great. It's a little pricey but worth it. The fish is always excellent. I'll be going here again next week! Yum!

One of our two favorite restaurants in Hilo along with the 'new' Hilo Bay Cafe. You don't go there for the view, there is none, and there is no outdoor seating which i usually expect from something with the name 'Cafe'. But, and this is a big but, Cafe Pesto makes this awesome lilikoi(Passion Fruit) cheesecake. I travel a lot... More

I feel like we tried all the restaurants on the Big Island, and Cafe Pesto was THE best. Amazing appetizers, incredible pizzas, savory specials...in our family of four, no one was ever disappointed. Sometimes, when you go out to dinner and the bill is more than you like to spend ordinarily, you leave feeling a little taken advantage of. At... More

The pickings are slim in Hilo. It's not like there are dozens of good restaurant choices in this small town. Luckily, Cafe Pesto serves good pizza and casual food in a big open space in the heart of downtown. It's open fairly late and parking is easy. The service was friendly, and the drinks were poured generously. I asked for... More

Heard great things about this restaurant, so we thought we'd try it. My husband made a reservation, but in spite of this, we were seated immediately adjacent to the waiting area. People continually bumped into my chair; the noise and conversation from people waiting for a table was overwhelming. I ordered the risotto and chicken. My husband ordered the pizza.... More
