This shop is absolutely a hidden treasure of Hilo. The cheesecakes are beyond amazing and the iced coffee is the best in town. I was pleasantly surprised by this patisserie and will be back often. It is worth the hassle of finding parking!

I have eaten here many times and I can attest that every single time I have always been satisfied. Both savory and sweet dishes are the best and I have looked far and wide across the state and have not found one that can beat this place. As a local, you see businesses come and go but this one has... More

We stopped by on our travels to Hilo and were just floored by the freshness, taste and the very nice pastry chef/owner. She was so nice and we enjoyed the Lilikoa tart and the quiches were so light and fluffy along with the very pleasant conversation. A must stop if you visit Hilo, Hi anytime soon. Check the hours though... More

I came to check out this place while I was on vacation with my husband in Hawaii. I was shocked by the variety of pastries and All of them looked great to me. I really liked the coffee and breakfast there. You should go there for a quick stop in Hilo.

Stopped by here after wanting to check it out on previous trips to Hilo. The pastries are very good. We had the smoked salmon and artichoke quiche ($5.75) and the almond croissant (the chef's suggestion-$4.25). Both were so good- especially the croissant. There's many other pastries here- cheesecakes, tarts, lattice cookies. Felt like being back in Austria. Owner/chef very friendly... More

Moonstruck is a quaint little bakery right near the Hilo Bayfront. The Frangipani Croissants are fabulous. Hours are limited but constant. I loved sitting while munching on my croissant and sipping iced coffee. A little taste of (what I think it's like) sitting in a French Cafe right in Hilo town! Other pastries are delicious and the sumptuous pies/cakes are... More

Wow! This place makes the best croissants outside of France. We waited days for this place to open -- it's only open Wed-Sat, but after our first visit in the morning, we went again that afternoon. The croissant was not as flaky in the afternoon, perhaps due to Hilo's high humidity, but it was still delicious. We also tried the... More

I had quiche florentine and shared a chocolate croissant. They both were fresh and flavorful. Also, has pressed coffee for two-yum!! Service was pleasant and gracious. Awesome!!

Based on other reviews I was excited to find Moonstruck. Well we weren't moonstruck that's for sure. The prices are high for Hilo and the staff is not friendly at least on the day we were there. Maybe they had an off day, it happens. The items we had were good, just nothing that made us go wow.

We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit to Moonstruck Patisserie. While we don't argue with the assertion that Moonstruck Patisserie is expensive compared to other bakeries in Hilo, our prices are competitive with restaurants in the Hilo area. There is a good reason for our higher prices: higher quality ingredients and unique products that are made... More
